I think she’s making a late push for Big East POY, Seton Hall could still finish 2nd in league play.

Another super game for AEH. 28 pts 4-9 from 3 (10-20 overall) in 85-59 win over Xavier
Glad she's having a good year. She didn't look very confident and very timid towards the end of her Miss St stint.

Looks like she's actually having fun right now.

No way she's doing that in Storrs or Starkville.

Eh, AEH has always been a capable shooter when she shot with confidence. She can put up a lot of points quickly when her 3 ball is falling.

I didn't think her style was a fit for Geno or Vic (who usually emphasize defense and team play).

Sometimes success comes down to finding a program who is the right fit for the system and culture.

This.

AEH play as well as her confidence allows her to and she had absolutely zero confidence her junior season (despite finishing out her sophomore season exceptionally well).

Olson described her as “deceptively athletic” and I think that’s fitting. Not a great athlete, but enough that she can create her own shot some.

Also totally agree that Starkville and Storrs probably weren’t necessarily great fits for what she wanted to do.

Maybe it isn't all that complex. There's just more people to fight off for minutes in Storrs and Starkville.

I guess we are talking about different things. Do I think she would be putting up 20+ points a game if she were in Storrs or Starkville? Nope. Player with a lot of other talented players would reduce anyone's production compared to playing on a lesser team that relies on you more. All I am saying is she looks very different when she plays with confidence in a system she looks comfortable with.

As I said earlier, she clearly was in a system she was not conformable with prior to her transfer to Seton Hall. Her confidence was completely shot last year and she seemed to not mesh well with what Vic was wanting to do. Does this mean I think AEH is a horrible player or Vic is a bad coach? Nope. I think Vic's style and what he prioritized did not align with what AEH wanted to do and how she liked to play. I don't think AEH at the same time was able to give Miss St or UCONN what they wanted either based on how she likes to play. This is why even though there are a lot of talented players out there, recruiting ones that fit into your style of play is very important. Just because they are talented doesn't make them a great fit for your program.

Yes to your last sentence. Look at the current UConn team.

putting her history aside, she brings another talented player to the big east. That’s a win in my book, since the big east is basically a marginally tougher AAC. I’m rooting for her and park lane to lead the pirates into the tournament.

Well.... obviously I know Vic. He doesn't just let you do what you want. Bibby was really out of place last year (asked to be a rebounder because Vic was worried about that after McCowan), Taylor wasn't allowed to utilize her offense because it wasn't trusted, and Carter was seriously trying hard to rebound (asked to be rebounder as well) but she's not good at fighting for position - so Vic pulled her often. He also asked AEH to always go at the basket to try to clean up on rebounds her teammates might have missed, and try to get her shots in traffic instead of just shooting from the perimeter. I saw those things often last year.

Those things caused some aspects to not always sync within our team. Our record was 25-6, but 4 of those could've been lost without Danberry. She cleaned it up in the 4th quarter. Vic likes to experiment in the first 3 quarters and when he senses danger, he simply tries to find the best way to score in the 4th.... and often that was Danberry there to save the day.

Interesting that without Danberry this year, McCray is looking like a duck that's just been shot down.

Pretty In-depth article about AEH and what she is doing at SH.

"The girls and the staff have welcomed me with open and loving arms," Espinoza-Hunter said. "They made my transition here extremely smooth, and I enjoy playing for Coach B. He's really helped bring my confidence and love for the game back, so I really just enjoy playing for him."

She'll get a chance to face her former team, No. 3-ranked UConn, in a few weeks, but she downplays any revenge narratives or personal vendettas for the Feb. 10 Big East match up.

"I'm just taking it day-by-day, with the pandemic you never know what's going to happen," she said. "I've never looked past an opponent, I don't have a specific game circled. Right now, my focus is on Marquette and then after that, my focus will be on Villanova. When UConn's time comes, I guess I'll give them the attention they deserve."
