I've only been as far north as Inverness, but driving through the Grampians from Fort William to Loch Lomond is like driving through the Green Mountains, but without any people, houses, roadside attractions, or even much traffic. Just sheep and cows and green pastures and mountains. It's beautiful. Even hiking up Ben Nevis, for the first hour it was just me and a couple of mountain sheep until I ran into anyone.
