This is interesting… we need one more game, could we part of the plan here?

Wonder if either has a call into DB on a game move up to next year? Since both are future opponents and Uconn needs a twelfth game after the Ohio St. cancellation in 2025.

"However, earlier this week Wake Forest officials notified Ole Miss that they would buy out of the return game in Oxford, Miss., that was slated for Sept. 13, 2025. Both teams will now need to locate a fourth non-conference opponent for next season. Ole Miss is scheduled to host Georgia State on Aug. 30, The Citadel on Sept. 6, and Tulane on Sept. 20."

My bad on a new thread....Just noticed your post, caught the story from FBS schedules. Seems like either team could fill the bill for 2025, if they want to move a game up. We have Ole Miss @ home in 2027 and a return to Wake in 2028.

Kiffin crying that Wake violated an "unwritten rule" by cancelling.

Dude, that's why they have cancellation fees WRITTEN IN THE CONTRACT. So there doesn't need to be any of this 'unwritten' BS.

Hypothetically, when Florida hires Kiffin this offseason will he still give a sh|t about Wake cancelling their 2nd game with Ole Miss? /s

Adding Wake for ‘25 might be mutually beneficial for both UConn and the Demon Deacons. Add an additional home and away.

Kiffin is the kind of dude who won’t even remember ole miss players’ names after he’s out the door.

we're @Delaware that day. We cant renege on an away game.

Wake already plays Delaware next year.
we can travel to The Grove for $1.5M

FYI- games get shifted all the time, particularly the non power conf match ups.

Exactly, continued horse (game) trading is likely due to ongoing conference realignment(s). For example, some of UD’s currently projected 2025 CUSA opponents shifting to the AAC with some of the latter’s schools moving to a new PACx or merged AAC-MWC.

Alternatively, maybe Ole Miss and UConn shift the Huskies ‘28 game in Oxford to next season. Unclear that’s desirable at this point for UConn, but it would be one ‘25 solution for Ole Miss. The Rebels are currently scheduled to visit the Rent in ‘27.

To me this shows that Wake understands where it is and is likely to be going forward. They aren’t beating a good SEC program in this decade so why get embarrassed? Of course they have a decent media deal so can absorb these thing to some extent at least.

I would not schedule Ol Miss. $1 million pay day not worth it to get steam rolled.

Looks like the Wake AD pretty much admitted that. Wake starting to position itself in the upcomong paradigm.

UConn should use the same strategy. Just play lower level P4 schools. I would also play a maximum of two P4 lower level schools until UConn can show that they can compete at that level. Duke is this year. Duke’s defense by the end of the year will not be a top 25 defense. Lucky to be in top 50.
