I've never seen that game... don't suppose it's uploaded anywhere?

I was at this one and it is fun to read Carl's article on the game and the surrounding
atmosphere. I remember that when Lobo fouled out, she had a serious chitchat with Wolters
before Rebecca left the court.....we had no bigs left except Kara. Kara did just fine.
I took a half day vacation just to watch. Incredible game. Incredible atmosphere came through loud and clear.

Watch and enjoy :)

(I still have the shirt they gave out at the door :) )

Lucky bum ;) Thanks for sharing the link. This game put us on the map!! I just remember folks saying how that team in orange was going to beat UConn because of the superior coaching skills of their coach. Hmmm. It got pretty quiet after the game. Again, thanks for sharing the link.

I was also at the game. I think the lingering emotion was 'we have a chip on our shoulder' as UConn was given little chance to beat the Vols. For me it was one of those defining sports moments when the definition of 'fan' was truly enunciated. All semblance of sanity was gone, replaced by adrenalin fueled frenzy. At the end of game I had no voice left and was exhausted from the effort :) Truly, I don't remember anyone leaving after the game. It was awesome.

It doesn't seem like UConn was any danger of losing that game, though the second meeting at the conclusion of the 1994-95 season was a nail-biter. That 1995 NCAA tourney also featured a UConn win by a razor-thin margin over Virginia in the regional finals. The psychology of these things is hard to comprehend fully, but I do wonder if dog piling after the win on January 16 was a mistake. The Huskies celebrated like they'd just won the national championship. That can be good in terms of swagger/confidence but just a tad unhealthy in terms of focus.

In any case, that was a fun game and a fun team to watch. It wasn't the deepest team so much as a regular rotation of seven, but what a seven! Four players whose names are on the Huskies of Honor wall, along with three tremendous glue players in Pam Webber, Jamelle Elliot, and Carla Beruuuuuuuuuuuube.
