I don't remember Berube as a role player. I remember a player with court smarts and ice in her veins. She ended up with nearly 1400 pts during her UConn career.

I also remember Beruuuube! A cheer sure to wake up all but the stodgiest blue hairs.

I didn't mean role player in a negative context but she did play during her career with Rizzotti, Lobo, Sales, Ralph,Elliott, and Wolters among others. She was a great player as you noted and also a great complimentary player.

I didn't read it as a negative. By definition a role player is a team member who plays in certain circumstances. IMO Berube was much more than that.

Not in the stands, but on press row. I spoke to him after the game about Sugar, remarking that she did quite well with good coverage.
