It is indeed ironic that Kelly grew up 15 minutes away from the site of the Final Four and yet was not in the arena when 30+ other UConn alumnae were.

It will indeed be interesting to see if Kelly is still with the Sun when the season starts. I think the odds have been against her ever since her second year. This year, it will probably come down to a contest between her and Ms. Weisner of Oregon State as to who will have the last guard spot.

I certainly hope that she succeeds in making the team, and in contributing to it significantly after that.

If you saw Kelly Faris play basketball you probably grin, shake your head, and stumble in trying to find the right words to describe how great she was. In her case stats are very irrelevant.

If you weren't watching from 2010 through 2013...damn, you missed seeing an amazing basketball player. But thanks to uconhuskygames.com there are 69 games available for those years.

Never an All-American, not among the Huskies of Honor, only 7 points per game.
None of that matters. Kelly is one of the UConn greats.

Faris' defense has never been questioned. It's her offense - i'm not saying she needs to score 10+ PPG on the Sun, especially if they have a lot of other scorers, but she needs to be able to hit when open, and drive and score as well (she can already do the latter - not as sure about the former). The fact that she's apparently enjoying success overseas is an indication of her talent. I just hope it translates to the WNBA where us Americans and UCONN fans can see her frequently...

Ex-UConn star Faris hopes to help Sun get WNBA playoff spot

The link is to Carl's latest blog about Kelly stayingup late to watch the NCAA final game and the upcoming Sun season.
It is great that Kelly is working on her offense, that was a huge lacking in this talented ladies tool box. Ball handling under pressure every top player must handle that--great she is working on that too. Kelly was a huge fan favorite--had one terrific game and fans thought she was on her way--and never did it again!1.. Uconn fans wish her well

<<Never an All-American"
... but among the Huskies of Heart,
"...only 7 points per game.... Kelly is one of the UConn greats."

Like they (now) say in Indiana...
The game isn't just putting the ball through the basketball ring.
It's an unrelenting, player-on-player, nose-to-nose struggle...
and THAT girl ALWAYS has the grit to force the fight.
