If there is a thought of fighting, it is carefully veiled. The reference to the unfairness of the same people judging the appeal being the ones who wrote the rules to begin with could be seen as opening the door to considering other appeal options such as through the courts. However, that is reading in a lot that is probably not there. I saw the article as his way of criticizing the standards and the process, but not much (and probably no) intent to fight the ban outside the NCAA.

I was glad to see that he spoke to the issue of "succession" with just about the right amount of appreciation of JC while reserving the right to be the Athletic Director and find the best available coach to move forward with.
