This occurrence, or practice, just warranted a one-game suspension for Sylvia Hatchell. I thought I read in a book by Geno that simulated introductions, with all current Lady Vol players wearing "T"-shirts with the recruit's face on it, and applauding the game-style introduction of the recruit, was a regular Tennessee practice.

Does any one remember this?

Tennessee used to do that before that practice was deemed unacceptable by the rules years ago.

Along the same lines (?), I am increasingly annoyed by schools that use the public address system as an assist or substitute for the cheerleaders. Sound effects, call outs to opposing players (as reported on the BY), and prompts to the crowd, "C'mon and yell... " I know that anything like sportsmanship is increasingly regarded as "old school." But seriously, if a team needs that kind of gimmickry to win a game, it doesn't say much for them.

I thought there was a rule against this rubbish, but if there is, it either isn't enforced or heeded.
