ACC falls short in critical measure of success (i.e., winning national championships)

Might as well embrace their fate as a basketball conference, invite UConn and get it over with

LMAO at Bobby Bowden citing facilities as an issue for Florida State. Yes, UF has better facilities than Miami and FSU, but that was true even when UF was the "other" Florida school. FSU went south because BB stayed too long. Really that simple.

Unfortunately, a lot of ACC schools are in a cycle (or permanent state) of being the other school in a given area. Clemson won the NC in 1981, but they were dirty as hell when they did it. South Carolina is still the choice for local talent who want to stay local (see Marcus Lattimore and Jadeveon Clowney). Georgia Tech will always be second fiddle to UGA, split 1990 title notwithstanding. Florida State and Miami have been a comedy of errors and mismanagement lately. The North Carolina schools are always going to be basketball schools. And Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts don't produce enough local talent to be in the picture in any consistent way.

The ACC is ripe to dominated by Florida State and Miami, but those schools aren't getting out of their own way. FSU's recruiting is picking up, however. Their 2012 class is sick.

But yes, an ACC with UConn, UNC, Duke, Maryland, and 'Cuse would have nine of the last 13 national champions in men's basketball, and seven of the last 12 in WBB.

Miami is in real danger for the simple fact that its program is very costly for a private school, and the fans aren't the greatest. They can always catch fire though with a hot young coach (and Golden may be that coach) who can take advantage of all the talent in the area.

Miami's got a huge draw with location too. Ridiculous weather, nightlife and South Beach right next door (contrast that to Cuse - LOL). Local talent + locale will get it done for them. Obviously, you need someone who can coach of course.
