This is where the ACC and Big 12 are lost and perhaps to no fault of their own.  Either they don't know what they want to be or haven't realized yet that they can't be the P2.  There are no programs left that will bring their conferences enough revenue to come close to competing with the P2.  They are counting nickels and dimes and singles when the P2 are counting hundies.

So what else is there?  Competing on the field and court.  Here again there aren't any football programs left which make much of a dent in the bank account or on the field.  Basketball, well clearly there is UConn and a few other programs such as Nova, Marquette, Gonzaga and some others that compete on the court.  Big 12 and ACC could improve on court performance but only care about their nickels and dimes.  Both are stuck in the middle and will try to tread water as long as possible, but the P2 carriers are sailing away.  Taking in more basketball programs might help save college basketball.

Will either the Big Ten or SEC fire a shot across the other's bow?
