Using the final timeout with 17 seconds left was dumb. Calling that play on 2nd down, with 17 seconds left, was extremely risky at best and probably ill-advised.
But the fact that none of the lineman seemed to realize they need to bust their asses back to the line after the play...God, that's tough to stomach. Clearly, nobody on the sidelines made them aware.
Somehow, the worst part of this is that it is exactly what I expected from Diaco. He has a lot of good in him as a football coach...but his feel for game situations is enraging and his apparent indifference to it is infuriating.
I'll be honest, I don't care that much about UConn football. But I root for them and like watching the games, and even for me that was a 'can ruin your day' loss. Thoughts out to the die-hards.
