@shizam can certainly clarify the intent of the thread but as he mentioned the 3rd, 4th and 5th place schools of the conference who participated in Post-season tournament, these are not the doormats of our league. Two of the 3 programs have newer coaches who have immediately turned around the programs. To wit: UCF in 3 years before Coach Abe was 10-20; 9-21; 7-23. She came in last year and was 21-12 and went 1-1 in the NIT. She now has 1 full recruiting cycle complete with her second full recruiting efforts coming in the fall. UCF will be a top of the conference team, at least until a P5 school makes an offer to her. Houston was even worse at 6-25; 6-24 and 6-24 then the last two years were 12-19; 20-12. Hughey is in his 4th year after being an assistant at FSU and this year he qualified for the NIT. The other point to consider is the scheduling is usually done 2 years out-the teams for 2019-20 are being considered now so the new coaches have to use their connections to get on any P5 schedules. Jamelle at Cincinnati was discussed on a separate thread. As I have said NUMEROUS times, non-revenue sports do not sign or give extensions BEFORE the contracts are to expire. This year alone, Joanne Boyle and Jamelle Elliott are two fairly high profile coaches/programs whose contracts were not renewed. Only in Men's CBB and Football do schools extend with a coach a year or 2 before the contract is set to expire over the perceived concern of recruiting. Geno, due to the money he brings in for UConn from SNY gets extended to coincide with the media revenue. The question is will Travis Mays, Tonya and Wichita St-(Keitha Adams took over this year after WSU relieved Jody Birch of her duties last year over program dissension) all show improvement to improve the conference's esteem over the next few years.
