Because Harvard pulled off the upset against New Mexico last year they are pretty much guaranteed to beat Cincy this year.

St Joes schools us with future HOF Halil Kanacevic. Must be those resume builders against VCU and Wash St as well as our being the worst 7 seed in tournament history.

Good news is Providence runs over UNC because they were able to win the Big East - "one of the toughest tournaments in the game". That makes us all feel better!

Kanacevic is happy just to be in the tournament. Bazz is not.

I do hope our boys pounce on them early and never let up. St. Joe's can still be happy with their participation award. It's a win-win.

Lol. Creighton is a good win though. PC could beat UNC, depends on which UNC comes to play

Creighton gets a free ride in game 1. Let's see how they roll against Baylor.

This from IMNO1 insider Harvard won't be able to handle the Bearcats D, We will beat ST Joes going away. UNC toys with PC

Every year there are upsets in the tournament. and every year there are trendy picks to bring about those upsets. But rarely do the upsets and the trendy picks align. Last year not a sole picked Florida Gulf Coast as a trendy pick. And I remember reading all about how Harvard had no chance against New Mexico who was a bit of trendy pick to go deep itself. Cincy itself was the trend makers selection to beat Creighton last year. Of course they didn't.

Harvard has been the trendy pick but I'm expecting Cincy to choke the life out of them on the defensive end, Harvard hasn't seen anything like the D they're about to face.

In terms of efficiency they have played UConn which is pretty close to Cincy level defense if you go by Kenpom.

true, and when the team amped up the D in the 2nd half Harvard couldn't do much of anything in the 2nd half on offense until the late flury when UConn relaxed on D to prevent fouling.

How did that turn out ?
At a time the a Huskies were in a funk too.

Don't disagree with either of you. Just pointing out that Harvard has indeed seen a defense that was similarly awesome.

The only worry I have is that Mick Cronin is the Cincy coach.

Now you've done it. You have made Mick cry....not that it takes much to do that.

Looks like that cartoon Droopy Dog or Deputy Dog or whatever the hell it's called.

Free leg up in the brackets for anyone who picks Cincy over the media driven nonsense that suggests a Harvard win. I'd be shocked in Harvard scores more than 50. I'm more concerned about Memphis and there lack of defense getting by GW.

It's going to be hilarious watching these guys hop off their loaded bandwagons and run to the next TV media darling after spending most of these games prepping viewers for the big run that never comes.

I agree with that. This year, UNC could win it all or loose to Providence (and several local high school teams I have seen) on any given night. Kentucky is the same. Both teams will be a bear to deal with in the brackets.

Personally I think that Cinci over Harvard is one of the easiest picks in the entire bracket outside the 1-16 games. This is a senior laden team pissed at losing early in the AAC and I will be shocked if Harvard gets it to 50. And while Cronin looks like a demented leprechaun I respect what he has done with that program over the past few years. He's won a lot of games against tough competition with only one real NBA player (Stephenson) that I can recall. Toughness is not something Cinci ever lacks even though the talent is not always there.

I would like to add that Seth Greenburg is a complete Philly homer idiot. Thank you that is all.

"demented leprechaun"
Classic.

The Friars, the 11th seed, took themselves off the NCAA bubble by winning the Big East, one of the toughest tournaments in the game

It used to be - what a joke this writer is

They didn't win the Big East. They won the Had to Wait for the Big Boys to Leave even to get a Sniff Tourney
