Anyone besides me think Miller has a legitimate shot at this? Obviously Dham, and guys like Nic Moore, Rob Gray and Goodwin will get consideration.

DHam went through his slump in the beginning of conference play (albeit still stuffing that stat sheet sans FG%) which is why I believe Miller has such a great chance if we win the regular season title.

9 games to go but ultimately I think it plays out with Dham winning POY, Miller 1st team, Gibbs/Purvis 2nd team.

I think DHam makes all Conference first team and Miller 2nd. Nic Moore probably wins POY again.

DHam's gone through too much of a bad stretch to win POY IMO. He'd have to put up a ridiculous streak and we'd have to win the regular season in order for him to win it. I think Nic Moore wins when it's all said and done.

Moore was preordained from the get go, I think.

We have to win the regular season outright for Hamilton to get consideration.

IMO Moore shouldn't win it. Remember when we were banned and Otto Porter (who?) beat Bazz for POY?

Bazz got screwed royally that year. All you had to do was look at his endgame and especially OT performances to see who was the real MVP in the league that season.

Bazz was heroic that year, leading the most heroic team in UConn history ,in my opinion .But even a die hard Huskie fan like myself wouldn't have given in POY.

Not the AAC but in the Good Old BE:
Didn't it happen in 2011 - Ben Hansbrough at ND vs Kemba?
That was a complete joke

FYI, Porter won for 2012-13, not 2013-14. Like CMB said, Porter was 1st team AA; Bazz wasn't even 3rd team that season.

In conference play:
Kemba - 21.7ppg on .395 shooting, 4.5apg, 25.2 PER, 3.2 WS
Hansbrough - 20.7ppg, on .509 shooting, 4.7apg, 29.0 PER, 3.9 WS

Not to mention that Hansbrough's team finished 2nd and Kemba's finished 9th. I love Kemba, and he was the best player in the country on the balance of the season, but Hansbrough was the rightful winner of the conference POY award.

Am I seeing that you don't think Bazz should have been POY that year?
Also, I would consider the 2011 run through the BE tourney and the dance to be more "heroic" just based on the talent that team had to go up against PLUS the fact it was win the BE tourney or bust.

Yeah. I mean, it wasn't totally ridiculous at the time -- we forget that Kemba went through a stretch of 6/20 shooting nights in the Big East when we stumbled in February -- but it looks completely absurd in retrospect.

Based on the full 40-game performance, Kemba should probably have been National POY, and he wasn't even considered the best in his own conference.

It's a strange confluence of events, certainly.

It felt like Kemba hit as many game winners in 2011 as Laettner did in his career. The undefeated preseason and post season tournament run on a team that was .500 regular season is just unreal.

I'd have to put Kemba and Laettner on an all-time clutch college player list.

Clearly where the team finishes carries huge weight when considering POY. That's why Boat didn't get it last year and that's why Kemba didn't get it in 2011. In 2013 Bazz didn't deserve it and in 2014 he won it (rightfully, over Sean Kilpatrick). If we win I predict the key player down the stretch for us will get it (Dham or Miller).
