I like looking at these things for whatever reason. Tulsa released their non conference opponents for 2016/17 today:

Wichita State, Oregon St, Oklahoma State are the bigger names on the list for them. @ Little Rock should be more challenging than they'd hoped for and then the Diamond Head Classic in December. Overall a pretty challenging schedule for a team that loses an absurd amount of players this year.

That's one way to keep the conference RPI down. Wichita's stock will likely be down next season. Oregon State and Oklahoma State will be in the bottom half of their P5 conferences. Do those other teams even qualify as mid majors?

The worst part is Tulsa lost the majority of their team and might actually lose a bunch of these games. Yikes.

The UNO and Jax State games are the only true low majors on that schedule. ORU fits in that too but it's a crosstown rivalry game so have no problems with that. Couple MVC teams, couple P5 teams, and the Sun Belt and C-USA is a decent schedule for a team like Tulsa. Tulsa will probably lose more games than they win on that schedule though having graduated 10 players or w/e it was...

Having a hard time agreeing with this and the OP's comment. If this were UConn, Cincy or SMU's non-conference schedule I'd think all 3 would run the table without much trouble. The other teams in the AAC need to stop scheduling like they're in their old conferences. They get a pass for the first couple of years because they needed a little time to recruit at a higher level, but this is year four... time to step it up.

We have a good schedule but a really horrible home schedule - somebody better get on the ball.

Little Rock, Wichita St, Oregon St are tournament teams from last year. The Diamond Head classic has Hawaii, Utah, SFA, San Diego St in it. Illinois St was 2nd in the MVC last year too. Not saying its a dynamite schedule by any means but for what Tulsa has coming back (literally nothing) from last years team to play a schedule like this isn't the end of the world. Especially if OSU winds up being back to their normal level of decent/good

Definitely not the end of the world because Tulsa is most likely going nowhere next season, but I don't think there's the potential for a "quality win" by NCAA tournament standards available on that schedule. Even though Tulsa really has no shot at the tournament that hurts the conference.

Wichita and Little Rock are trending down. Oregon State I think will be decent but overall just an underwhelming slate IMO. To get more than one good game in the Diamond Head they'd have to win a game, which is unlikely.

Then the Huskies better take care of business vs Tulsa in 2016-17
