The wife and I had season tickets for USF this season. The big reason was that USF has been a tough out for UConn over the years. They play a very brand of basketball that is similar to UConn. And of course we still get to see UConn at least once a year in person. My understanding is that Geno and Jose are whine drinking, cigar smoking buddies who enjoy fine food. And what better place to do all three than in Tampa! Jose is indeed a mirror of Geno in many ways. The young ladies of South Florida are polite, well spoken and some are really funny. You will not see ear buds and phones when at a game or tournament. Just not allowed. After the season finally last Monday, the handshake was more than a formality. The two teams like and respect each other. That says a lot of both schools, coaches and their respective staffs. BTW - the USF fans understand, enjoy and respect good basketball. They get just as noisy and vocal at the refs as UConn fans! Two other tidbits. All the young ladies of USF from across the seas speak at least 3 different languages! And the team communicates in English! And without hesitation, we renewed our season tickets for next season last week when the sales office called.
