This is the first I've heard of the Women's Minor League Basketball Association (WMLBA).

"The idea for the league came from Kre'Tonia Morgan, a long-time entrepreneur who has chaired a handful of other basketball organizations in the past. The league presents a breath of fresh air for women's basketball players hoping to go pro, with only thirteen current WNBA clubs boasting eleven roster spots apiece. The result - less than 150 women will get the chance to further their athletic careers on the professional level."

How the heck are they gonna pay for that??

Yeah... Salaries in the WNBA are pretty low to begin with... They can make more money in the pros overseas than they could waiting on tables days and playing D League games at night...

Men's soccer did this a decade ago... The USISL... $100 per game for most players... Work all day and play at night... Not a pleasant existence...

Yes as Carnac gave you the info but what was not included and I don't mean to be rude, on the men's side it is known as the Developmental league. For the women it will be a Disaster league if it even gets off the ground.
This will be a pay to play league in my opinion and nothing I read disputes that. Much like an AAU for older girls. NBA teams sponsor their D league, WNBA teams are struggling to support themselves, sad to say.
Woman's basketball does not need a D league they need fans. ;):(

C'mon Meyers why so negative! ;) Everybody knows womans basketball in this country is a cash cow. This group is on to something , they are getting $150.00 for tryouts and $100.00 for clinics!
Having said that, I found the perfect half time entertainment for their inaugural all star game! :D
