COLLIER REBOUNDING UP A STORM- Napheesa Collier is second on the Huskies with 74 rebounds which got me to thinking of where that ranks among freshmen this early in their careers.

I was able to go back to Svetlana Abrosimova's freshman season with the 1997-98 campaign and here's what I came up with for most rebounds by a UConn freshman through the first 12 games as tonight's (Tulsa) game is the Huskies' 12th of the season:

Tina Charles (06-07) 97
Breanna Stewart (12-13) 80
Maya Moore (07-08) 77
Napheesa Collier (15-16) 74
Swin Cash (98-99) 72
Tamika Williams (98-99) 66

That's some fabulous company Napheesa's keeping. And this kid's just scratching the surface of her enormous talent!

She probable would be closer to the top if you were looking at per minutes played.

Well, if you go by minutes played it would be pretty hard for any of them to touch Gabby's performance last year. She was third ( more than Tuck), in only 15 minutes per game. We'll see if Napheesa can reach Gabby's high last year of 16 against SMU.
