"To coin the critically acclaimed and award-winning 2022 film, Gabby Williams is “Everything Everywhere All at Once.”

They're finally seeing what the French, Hungarians and the Turks....ummm, Europe, really.....have known all along. French Army Knife? Invoking Tamika Catchings of 2007?

"The affectionately dubbed “Gabby Williams Experiment” was on full display Saturday when she tallied 21 points on 8-for-10 shooting and seven assists — both season highs — and held Phoenix Mercury star Satou Sabally scoreless on 0-for-6 shooting in the pivotal fourth quarter of an 89-77 win.

“There’s never been a definitive Gabby moment until now. I think, because she hasn’t been completely herself,” coach Noelle Quinn said.

“She has this amazing skill set, but it’s always been, ‘What position is she?’ “Like we’ve always said, she’s a French army knife. She does everything at a high level. You look at her numbers, and it’s not a fluke. She’s been playing like this for year now. She’s in a comfortable pocket. She works hard. She’s very smart, and now she’s coming into her own.”

“I don’t need to make the case for Gabby, because her game makes the case for her,“ Diggins said. “She’s one of the best players in this league, and she’s been playing like it. Nobody can stop her on the offensive side, and defensively she can stop anybody.

“When you talk about two-way players, not a lot of people really understand what that means and values that, and she definitely does. She doesn’t take a play off. … It’s hard to take her off the floor because of so many things she does on both sides.”

Gabby remains my all-time favorite Husky, and I'm thrilled that she has been getting so much (well-deserved) attention over the past year+ across the WNBA, Olympics, and Euro.
GLW in my handle is for Gabby. There have been so many who played and represented UConn WBB very well, indeed.....but somehow Gabby tugged my heart the most: coming in after injuries in her last two years of high school, interrupting her continued development before entering College, behind as she joined the team, but became the indispensable one for the many things did on the court in her junior and senior years.....then the contretemps with the Sky which set her back in the W........finally, in Seattle they saw how to play her after seeing what she was doing in Europe.....but the French League schedule always delayed joining the W each season.....

Finally, this year, training camp, etc....Couldn't be happier for her!

Some more about Gabby......

I must admit Gabby has always been my favorite all time UCONN player. Her unique style in so many areas on the court is just captivating. However, this past year a certain UCONN senior has captured my heart with her skill, grit, and tenacity. Ms Bueckers now seems to occupy a "co-favorite" spot in my mind along with Gabby.

12 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, as they beat Napheesa's previously undefeated Lynx by 10. What a group of great all around players are Gabby, Breanna, Napheesa and Paige. You were very fortunate, Geno.
You could start an WNBA championship team with those 4, add JJ, Sabrina, Azzi, Boston, Clark , and have fun.

Three of them were teammates at UConn: B & G for 2 years; all three for 1.....national champs all.

BTW: those highlights also show that Malonga is showing more of what she can do....

I think she chose dual citizenship so she can play for her mother's country......it seems she is close to her grandmother, French side.

It's more than just the family connections. I recall an interview where Gabby described her status as "celui d'une Française née à l'étranger" (that of a French person born overseas.) She has embraced her French identity, and France has embraced her. I think the turning point came during the pandemic, when Gabby chose to stay in France and suffer through the "confinement" (quarantine) with the rest of us. Ever since, and especially since the Paris Olympics, she has been a Big Deal here, the kind who makes us wave a baguette in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other and shout "c'est une de nôtres" (she is one of us.)

Missed that interview......I like her best among UConn WBB players but I also don't search for every word those I admire/like says.....this tendency doesn't diminish what I think of them: the reason for liking them remains undimmed. But if I run into anything they say or are said about them while reading or looking for something else, then by all means, I share them. [I wonder what I would do if I run into negative things said.....definitely ignore since fake news is easy to fabricate these days, especially with AI]

Thanks.

These interviews are great. It's also interesting to see how being in Seattle with Quinn has been really beneficial to her. Glad the fuss about the coaching situation has died down.

Quinn may not be perfect or the coach to get Seattle over the top, but she along with Seattle ownership have done something right with respect to Gabby's situation and it's showing on the court. The league and we as fans benefit from it, which I'm very thankful for.
