A quick guide to new NCAA rules in WCBB

"Shirts don't have to be tucked in anymore? Why not just let them play in sweatpants and slides?! Back in the day, we had to tuck in our shirts! If it was good enough for Kerry Bascom, it ought to be good enough for the girls today I say!"

(Actually, my thought is that uniforms ought to be "uniform." That means they ought to be the same for everyone. The reason for tucking in shirts was to prevent a hand being caught in a loose shirt. With the new materials and tailoring, that is an an issue anymore. For whatever reason kids hate tucking in their shirts, and that has lead to many variations of the half tuck methodology that we see every game. So, it will be good to have all players "uniform" with untucked shirts. At least for the half second I'll notice it before focusing on the game.)

Some new rule highlights for this season. I'm betting that one in particular on the last page will not apply to our team, lol.

Very good post. I googled these last week in preparation for the upcoming season. The one that I am really, really happy about is the new untucked jersey. Yup, that must have been a tough one to come up with. 😳

If only they had made a rule change about the length/folding up of the player's shorts...🙂😲
(Another of my "who really cares what I think" pet peeves.)
I'm with you. If players want different length shorts (which again I'm not a fan of because ..."uniform"), then why not just order that length short and avoid the whole rolling thing.

I had my pinky dislocated once when it got caught in an untucked shirt. I kinda like the tucked in rule.

I'm watching my recording of the Oklahoma vs Tennessee football game and the announcers were commenting about the Sooner kicker wearing shorts. His pants are rolled up well above his knees. I guess NCAA football has relaxed their uniform rules too. 😟😯

No, Carol's special headband for concussion prevention is more than 2 inches, so now it is not a medical exemption as in the past.

I wasn’t talking about that headband

I was about to reply that I'd rather see untucked shirts than the "diaper look". You and a couple of others beat me to it.

I like the shot clock change for inbounding once you've crossed half court. Never understood why a team got a full reset in those situations.

Still would like to see a change to when time outs could be called, but that's the FIBA rules bias in me. Teams that get a player trapped with good defence lose out on a potential turnover because time outs can be called during a live play.
