I hope all UConn fans are enjoying this feast of good games in the November / December portion of the season. Instead of playing Holy Cross, College of Charleston, and Fairleigh Dickinson in these months, we have been playing some excellent teams. After Notre Dame and the one cupcake next week (Colgate, scheduled for good reason), we can still look forward to Florida State, LSU, and Maryland before the winter doldrums known as the AAC schedule begin.

I'm glad that Geno recognized that he had to have this kind of an OOC schedule because of the weakness of the home conference. Wouldn't it be even more fun (for the players and coaches as well as the fans) if we could combine this year's OOC schedule with a conference schedule such as we used to have in the old Big East?

This what people don't realize... I'm pretty sure he would've tried booked a schedule like this regardless. They are trying to do something that has never been done before. Also, we all know there are people who just won't play us so in reality it is nice that enough people said yes.

They have always tried to get the most ranked opponents on the OOC scheduled possible. It is not a new thing they are doing because they are in the AAC. Last Season in the Big East they had, #1 Baylor, #1 Stanford, #4 Duke, #9 Maryland, #10 Penn State, #14 Purdue, #16 Texas A&M out of conference.

This year they have #2 South Carolina, #3 Notre Dame, #5 Maryland, #7 OSU, #13 FSU, #23 DePaul out of conference.

You are SO RIGHT. Just the opposite of what it used to be. What I do not like is that in the conference games, there is no competition......then the tourney is here, and here come the better teams. Geno will get them up(I hope).

There are a couple of teams in conference that can get Uconn's attention - especially South Florida. And they have the great advantage of familiarity, which is a key ingredient in playing competitively against Uconn. It is 10-15 years since a first time opponent has beaten a Uconn team!
