There is an article in today's Springfield Republican...I don't see it online.

It mentions Josh Sharma of Northfield Mt. Hermon....a bit over 7'. He is a junior...has repeated his soph year. Currently averaging about 11 points and 10 boards. It doesn't sound like he is 'blowing up' but it does sound like he has made substantial progress of late. He already has scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas State, Oklahoma State among others. It says that UConn is 'seeking his services'.

We know that we need height from the class of 2015. Anyone seen him play?

Here's his ESPN profile. Shows UConn as having offered.

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-...ing/player/evaluation/_/id/162871/josh-sharma

Sharma is long, mobile, and athletic with signs of being able to develop into a skilled face-up type big man. He moves with ease, covers a lot of ground quickly, and gets off his feet in a hurry. He can run and jump to score, put the ball down ...

The rest is insider stuff. Looks like a good profile for a kid who still has two years before stepping foot on campus. I really like reading about bigs with good footwork and agility.

I have seen him play. He is a legit 7 footer that can shoot the 3. However he is extremely skinny and lacks the strength right now to play anywhere in the paint in college

I would love 7 foot and 245. thin framed big guy seem to get injured. On the flip side 7 foot and 315 also get injured

He's been linked to UConn previously. Last week 3UConn had him in his recruiting update.

He's very skinny. He seems more finesse than power.

Two more years. He's just a junior. If he can get up to 225-230 by college that's plenty good enough.

With bigs, I'd rather see skill and need to add weight than have weigh and need to add skills.

Unfortunately, we have to add weight and develop skills. Those high motor guys are tough to fatten up.

Is this kid a ginger? If so, we might as well stop recruiting now; he's a lock for the Badgers.

Impressive video. Kid is definitely athletic. I think it would be fair to say he looks like a better player than Brimah right now. If we can't get a higher rated prospect with some bulk I would have no problem with the bringing this kid in.

Well I'm not sure he's a "better player than Brimah right now" so no that's not fair. Amidah is playing against 20-24 year old kids many the same size……but he does look like a potentially nice player!

To say sharma is better than brimah right now is laughable . Shows how much you really watch him, brimah is already an elite shotblocker in d1 hoops.

You realize a lot more goes into a player than just shot blocking. I agree Brimah is a good shot blocker but elite may be pushing it. The kid is an athlete no doubt and has all the tools to be elite but he needs more experience. There are multiple times each game he goes for blocks and doesn't get them, leaving the glass open for offensive rebounds. To say the kid in that video isnt a comparable player (not just shotblocking) is ridiculous. Just from a two minute video it looks to me he is a better shooter, better finisher, better ball handler, agility, finesse. The only thing I would give to Brimah is shotblocking. And just for the record I do love Brimah and think he can be great as he gains more experience.

How is elite pushing it ? He is second in the country in block %, 30th in blocks per game. All in 15 minutes per game. He anchors the defense already when he isn't in foul trouble, so it's not like he is just a shot blocker. And why would a seven foot center need any sort of ball handling ability lol? That stuff happens in high school highlights, not in college. ( see andre drummond)

He's playing against high school kids, guy. How many times do we have to go down this road, where we blow up a kid based on his high school highlights?

Exactly, when I checked 2 weeks ago Brimah lead the country in blocks per 40 minutes, some crazy number like 8.7 blocks. I think it's probably gone down recently.

Elite would be staying on the floor for 30 minutes a night and not going for every block. Choosing your spots and blocking it at the appropriate times. A missed block can be just as detrimental as a block can be beneficial. Okafor was elite. Brimah can be elite, but in my opinion not there yet. Ball handling is important for any big man or player on the floor. If you can't hold onto the ball your a liability on the offensive end. Agree Drummond is doing great without much ball handling skill (insanely athletic), but can you imagine how deadly he would be if he did have post moves.

Really? Guy? who is blowing up this kid? I said he looks like a better player than Brimah right now. It's not like Brimah is exactly lighting the world on fire. Guy is averaging 4 points and 3 rebounds a game. I mean he's doing great for his limited experience playing ball and he's a pivotal member on our team but relax.

I'm not worked up. Don't compare tape of a high school kid to someone who's playing high level D1 basketball. They all look like stars in high school. Get it now?

Nope still don't. A seven footer hitting threes and throwing it between his legs on dunks is not your average high school star. My opinion had nothing to do with the competition. If it bothers you that much compare the tape of Brimah from one year ago and the one above.
