Here's a highlight video of the team UConn will play on Saturday morning:

Jess Kovatch #23 is a very good long distance shooter, and she plops a bunch of these on the video. Expect Kia to try and discourage Ms. Kovatch.

AND here's Ms. Kovatch going off for 45 points against the last CT team St. Francis played:

Interesting. Saint Francis U was the only D1 college to offer her a scholarship.

A great young shooter with nice form, a quick little step back and enough handle to get off a perimeter shot when pressed. Central Conn. had some success forcing her off the perimeter making her either shoot pull ups or move inside. She's quick with questionable speed and athleticism. She plays hard and is tougher than a raw steak though. UConn will press her on the perimeter and force her into length. UConn will also run her ragged and force her to play defense. Ultimately those shots will have to come from further and further out. She may have some success early, but her surrounding cast will have big issues with UConn's length on the perimeter, size, speed, and athleticism. They won't have much of an answer for either Gabby or Z, nor Lou inside or out. UConn may be out of sorts early since some of Geno's principles haven't practiced or played in awhile. Expect a 2nd quarter runaway with team 2 perhaps up and in early in the 3rd.

Jess averages 25 PPG. What's the over/under for her versus Kia and UConn?

I haven't seen any here in Vegas, but I'm going later today. Will let you know if there is one.

Oh, having reported on sports betting, I know there's no over/under on individual women's basketball scoring. I was just asking for a Boneyard assessment. Set the number at 12 1/2, maybe?

I doubt you would find a line on this game. The only action in Vegas at this point might be on who wins it all. And I'd guess UConn is 1-9, Meaning you wager $9 and if UConn wins the NC you win $1. As the tournament gets into the 3rd round there will be some lines.

St. Francis vs. Robert Morris , Northeast conf. Champ. game replay still available on Watch Espn.

UConn has a 69% chance of beating St. Francis. Is that 69% out of 69%? Just wondering. Who came up with that stat. St. Francis has about as much chance of winning as I do of growing to 7' tall. I'm 5'8", and I'm 58 years old.

As you stated, there is no over/under on individual women's basketball scoring, there isn't any wagering on any of the games at the Santa Fe sports book. As of yesterday afternoon I will not be going into a sports book until after this weekend. This week is the second biggest week in sports betting in Vegas, the only other week that is better is the Super Bowl.

You're far more likely to lose an inch. Believe me I know.

"Discourage". Interesting choice of words.

I approve!

Jess is 5' 9" and Kia is 6' 0". That along does not bode well for Kovatch. And at some point she will have to deal with Gabby on the perimeter and very, very few have success against Gabby. Or our favorite Crystal will make life miserable on the perimeter.

I expect pressure defense from the start of the game to force turnovers and quick buckets for us. Not only Kovatch but the rest of SFU may be gasping for air by the second quarter.

As has been said many times, you cannot practice for UConn's defense and speed. Our ladies come out to put the hammer down right from the start.
