A foul?

My wife & I are staying at the Denver Downtown Westin. Through no fault of our own, it is Notre Dame's Team Hotel. In the elevator if Novosel trips & falls against my wife, is it a foul?
Should my wife apologize in lieu of not being able to give free throws?
Any advice is appreciated.
