It's not just about winning, it's about how they're winning. This team is jelling, Cole is opening up the offense, they're very good on the boards, they're awesome on defense and they're even making their free throws.

They're doing the little things right, jelling.

Great job Dan Hurley, thank you

I was at a brewery, missed the first 15 minutes and had only a so-so opportunity to watch the rest of the game. So rewatched on DVR, knowing the outcome.

Cole had a great game. James was James. Jackson was 3rd on the team in minutes. Whaley is playing less. That trend will likely continue.

What stood out was strong defense, really solid rebounding and pushing the ball up court after every miss. We played faster and it showed on the offensive end. Bouk, Martin and Jackson are all good rebounders who can go coast to coast, and should. I hope we keep pushing the pace.

Martin with a fairly poor game on offense but his defense and rebounding was critical all game. Josh played some valuable minutes and when not hedging, he’s easily our best defender in the post, better than Whaley or Sanogo.

Marquette was attacking the glass. And while they got 8 first half offensive rebounds... it was not worth it. Teams should absolutely try to get back against us rather than send multiple guys to the boards.

A good part of Whaley playing less was foul trouble. Whaley is still going to be on the floor for close to 25 mpg when he isn't in foul trouble.

Thought it was RJ's best floor game as a PG for UConn. Timing couldn't be better for his confidence and the role Dan Hurley has him playing heading into the BET. His excellent mid-range game is really putting pressure on the D.

Need to continue to involve our Bigs on offense and reward them for their hard work on the boards/help defense.

Whaley still makes some great hustle plays and blocks a lot of shots but his offense has completely left him. He's averaging 5 ppg on 40% shooting over his last 8 games. We don't need much from him on offense but he needs to start making layups again.

The offensive regression is perplexing. In the second half he got a perfect drop off pass 2' from the rim and try to contort his body to get off the shot. Just gather yourself and slam it home.

In the meantime, I'm fine with his shot blocking and overall aggressiveness on D.

Whaley needs to realize his value and stop making dumb fouls.
Love everything about how he plays.

No doubt about it!

One sign of the chemistry came on the fast break where Bouk caught it mid-court sideline and moved it Cole wide open in the corner for three. Once he knew Cole was shooting, he turned around and got back on defense. Didn’t even bother to see if it was going in, because he knew it was going in.

Hurley did much better - it was fortunate that when he had the really poor offensive team in the floor that they did play great defense and Marquette went cold at the same time - a well deserved A for Dan Hurley
RJ with his second great performance and hit the key baskets when needed - he also played really solid defense - if this continues UConn will be awfully tough. A+
Bouk was brilliant at times and sloppy at others - I understand there still is rust and expect him to shake it off and be the player he knows he can be but the sloppiness can't be the norm - needs to work on his deep shooting but that will come when he regains full stamina- stay healthy - to me he was a B today (he can be so much better)
Whalley receives too much criticism IMO - he plays better as a 5 than a 4
I thought that there were positive contributions from everyone, even Polley grabbed some rebounds and defended well at times - a good win

I noticed that, one of my favorite plays as was the post feed to Carlton who passed it to a crouching Jackson on the baseline who immediately made an amazing bounce pass to a cutting Tyrese for the layup.

The refs love to call Whaley for stuff he doesn’t do. Most are clean blocks.

That’s only been true since Bouk returned. Before that we didn’t really look to run much.

I don’t disagree. Didn‘t say otherwise. We are better when he’s not playing 25+ minutes, against most teams. Garcia is a bad matchup for him.
