Josh Harrellson, the big lumbering guy from Kentucky (the one who every time he scored you thought "damnit, we can't afford to let that guy get any points on us"), has 14 and 12 today for the Knicks. And he's gotten his points mostly with four three-pointers. Did not see that coming.

Yea he's been shooting them since the preseason, I wasn't aware that he had that kind of range because I didn't recall seeing it at UK. He's gonna play a long time as a backup big.

Boy can that Calipari coach kids up. :)

Not a big fan of the Squid, but how might one explain this?

Karma

Because Kentucky and the Squid hated him. Absolutely hated him! If Enes Kantner was eligible he'd never see daylight.

>> At halftime of a game against the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville on February 17, 2009, Kentucky coach Billy Gillispie ordered Harrellson to listen to the game plan from a bathroom stall. After the game, Gillispie made Harrellson ride back to Lexington in the equipment van instead of on the bus with his teammates. Kentucky fired Gillispie at the end of the season, replacing him with John Calipari

Under Calipari Harrellson found himself deep on the bench behind Calipari recruited favorites Demarcus Cousins, and Daniel Orton, and behind holdover Patrick Patterson. Harrellson played a total of 88 minutes over 22 games during the season

etc. <<<

If anything, it shows that they badly under-utilized a weapon. How tough would he have been on pick-and-pops with Knight and Doron Lamb once in a while - drawing big men away from the basket? Instead, he was just a garbage under-the-basket guy.

Seriously. Wow ... really interesting post. Had NO idea he could fire from outside. He was absolutely dominated on the inside vs. UConn. Is that on Cal? Me thinks yes.

Cal's a sh-tty coach, as far as I'm concerned.

The best recruiter the game has ever seen, and a lousy coach otherwise.

Saying he's reached X number of final fours doesn't cut it. Getting Rose was brilliant. Getting to the Final Four with Rose . . . not brilliant.
