Funny, I was thinking about that also when I read about Babb. But at least Babb was good in a major conference. They were making out Cohen to be the best defender in the country but he played in the Patriot League. It took about 5 minutes for him to realize that major conference type athletes are much different to guard than Patriot League level athletes. Babb at least guarded major conference type athletes all season.

Babb could make life difficult for JL, but I think JL will have a good game. I think RS will start out on Royce and wouldn't be surprised if Giff played him a bit too. The key to us id AO AD and Bazz getting the ball where it needs to go. If we keep the TO's down and hit AD and AO inside it will open up the perimeter for JL. ISU is a good team, but we are UCONN.

Babb is a good defender, sort of a poor man's Ricky Moore (which isn't a slight ISU fans). He is a bit taller than Ricky but not quite as good.

It will be interesting to see what happens. If Babb does a good job on Lamb, and then if Boat or Bazz go off, then he switches to one of them, who defends Lamb? Lamb really isn't a streak shooter. The good thing about having Boat and Napier is even if you cut the head off the dragon, the second head is still there so even if Babb defends the PG, UConn still has the other PG to initiate the offense.

BTW, Lamb is a more than willing passer, he loves to pass it back to the PG even when he's wide open and in position to shoot. It kills me he isn't more aggressive.

What's the over/under on UConn dunks/lops this game?

From an ISU fans perspective, JL is going to be a load for ISU. Babb is a great defender, but JL has the skills to create shots even against a great defender. ISU definitely needs to limit his touches if possible.

ISU will also have trouble defending your dribble penetration.

I wouldn't be surprised if we play a sagging man to man defense designed to shut off dribble penetration. How good are your guards at perimeter shooting?

It is important to note that our perimeter players rarely shoot when open. If you ignore them, they penetrate or pass inside. If you get up in their face and push them beyond the arc, then they launch 3's.

How good is Napier at perimeter shooting? Depends who you ask. Ask Napier and I don't think he would remember a shot he has missed this year. He believes every shot he takes is going in. This is good and bad. Good when you are down with a minute to go (Cincy/Tennessee, look at the PBP's). Bad when there is 30 seconds on the shot clock, your up 6 with a minute to go and he's 35 feet from the rim. Ask a fan and they will tell you Napier can hit them from anywhere, but has some of the worst shot selection of any player alive, though he is better than last year.

UConn's best statistical shooters are Boatright and Giffey. Boatright is probably too hesitant with his shooting, Giffey is almost scared to shoot.

Roscoe can hit a three here and there, but he is very, very streaky. Daniels hasn't made a shot in a few months (slightly exaggerated).

Lamb usually takes good, if contested, shots from 3, but his bread and butter is the mid-range.

Defending the dribble penetration is easier said than done.
