i have clearly had another day of crazy BY posting and arguing and so on. so i figured i would finish up my rampage 2night with a crazy idea for uconn. its the time of year when that dog show happens and all the rich ppl who spend million on dog haircuts and bones meet to drink wine and talk about polo. it is what it is. here in ct i still claim that we should have 3 dogs hat run out of the tunnel and u all know my idea with that for fball games. but i would like to toss out something. its completely left field and silly but its a idea. our spring game is never going to be the show that psu or bama types put on. but it can be a lot more than it is now. many ppl own dogs, i love dogs personally. some in this state have husky dogs but more im sure have labs and pitts and w/e. so here it goes.

its all about creating new culture but also tradition and just new things that relate to the brand and the program building steem. i am sugesting that during the halftime of our spring game, we put on a dog show. a uconn best pooch competition. i'm not saying we need to hold a legit one with million dollar dogs. what i'm saying is any fan or resident can enter the competition. bring your dog to the rent with u for the spring game. at halftime, u get to walk out of the tunnel and make a 2o yard trot with your dog and have some fun with it. we can have 2 levels. the open which is all dogs and the husky level for only husky dogs and winners for each of the 2 can get some stupid trophy or ribbon or w/e and some type of uconn prize basket. dog oowners can show off there uconn scarps and collars that they put on ther dogs for uconn pride blah blah.

its something wierd and funky. its a crazy silly idea. but something like this builds a new tradition and culture around the state. naming your dog after a uconn player isn't done enough here like it is in other parts of the college sports wolrd. do u have any clue how many digs in upstate ny are named "melo"?!?!?! again its bats crazy, but it could be something interesting. over and over we see schools with crazy tradition that are never even questioned, why can't we do something crazy? wo knows if its a complete flop or not. it prob would be, but is stuff like this not worth atleast thinking about and maybe giving a try? if it caught on it could be a nice little thing. a boost to attendance and so much more. team up with some local shelters and other aspects like that. doing somthing wild can lead to other opportunitys. who knows who buys in and becomes a new fan with stuff like this.

i don't know. its crazy as fruck. but its ideas and silly things like this that get talked about in my living room that should be thought about all the time when were trying to build on this program. as crazy and silly as it seems to even me, a small part of me says it could be something interesting....

edit-i realize ppl are going to say they dont want 100 dogs all thru the stands. this is not a issue. uconn could have a apply for a slot type thing to make it more fun. have 100 ppl enter dogs and have a online votong on the uconn website to select like 20. those 20 can show up with there dogs. then u cna plan around those 20 dogs and oners being in the stadium duing the game so that no dog vs dog or dog vs fan annoying issue shappen. put them in a certain seperated area or something. there are ways to handle and get around this notion....the fan voting thing could be fun, heck make the students vote on the 20 or something. anyway, there a lot u could do with this....

Keep the ideas rolling Dan.

I like the creativity but this one may be too much of a stretch for the administration to pick up.

Well there's the slight problem/possibility of 100 dogs doing their business on the field with a 2nd half of the spring game still to play...

I get it though - looking for ideas for tradition, and to make the Spring Game bigger. Maybe a tailgate concert. Maybe something with local HS bands at halftime.

Hold the competition on the visitors' sideline.

Meet Bowser, the "November 2014 Tulane vs UConn football Husky show champion".

When I first started reading, I thought the crazy idea was going to be to send the UConn cheer squad to the dog show to cheer on the Huskies.

I'd prefer the cheer squad in some type of athletic competition. I volunteer to referee.

I have a bats* crazy idea.

Start up the new UConn network. The only problem is that one school's sports content is only enough to fill 5% of the air time. So we need a lot of filler inventory. So have open tryouts and reality shows for the UConn cheer squad and the newly endowed Victoria's Secret School of Modeling in the new UConn Manhattan campus (footprint) to fill 90% of the time, plus dog shows the other 5%.

That might get $1 per subscriber per month in Connecticut and $0.20 per subscriber per month in the rest of the country. $200 mn/yr to UConn. Then we can invite Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, and Alabama to join the UConn conference.

Where to start: "newly endowed" Victoria's Secret School of Modeling-interesting choice of verbage. Maybe the VSSOM could sponsor a talk show with that newly announced first ever Connecticut native Playboy Playmate of the Month as show hostess.;)
