I don't think a ton of people were shocked that they didn't get back to the Final Four, but losing the 2nd round after sky high expectations coming into the year was very unexpected. Similar to Tennessee/Ball State...I don't think anyone was truly shocked that Tennessee lost to Ball State, but it was more about the magnitude of Tennessee (the 2x defending champs, never missed a Sweet 16) would lose in the 1st round for the first time ever, and to a no name program, no less.
