That's about 62%. Last year that number was about 52%. Last year we averaged 14 assists per game this year it's 19 per.

I don't think we can project anything, it's too early and the competition has thus far been weak. But the eye test says that we move the ball much better and quicker this year. We dribble far less. Just watching the offense, there is a fluidity and purpose to the ball movement. It is very encouraging.

I think we've seen at most 1 or 2 possessions where it was just dribbled around behind the 3 line for 20 seconds like we used to have to suffer through.

We're top 30 in the country in that stat. Assists correlate somewhat strongly with 3-pointers made and we're only average in number of 3s taken, which means we are passing really well as a team. It really stands out in the charting I've done. The entry passes to Sanogo/Clingan boost the number a bit, but that's definitely team basketball.

AJax, Newton, Karaban, and Clingan are all plus passers for their positions. We’ve seen big improvements in that area from Hawkins and Sanogo, and basically no one in the rotation is deficient as a passer. That’s a huge luxury.

I imagine the number will come down vs better competition but we are clearly a better passing team than a year ago. Karaban and Clingan are both advanced passers for their position for freshman.
