That is a record number by 300%. It's almost impossible to keep track of, let alone figure out who you should look at.

And there will be some trickle down or secondary effect as these players find homes. Did someone say Wild West? Circus? Insane Asylum? Take your pick.

I'm not sure people understand what might happen this year. Previously, schools were only allowed 25 new players per year, so coaches would have to keep some players around for depth or they would end up with less than 85 scholarship players. Not anymore. I think we are going to see a large number of kids pushed out this year.

No he's not. We had one or two posters who guaranteed us he'd hit big time once he left.
His school choice was odd. Close to his home but he had no chance to start there. Maybe he’ll go FCS.

And how many college kids who aren't under scholarship will swap schools in the next few weeks as fall semester ends?

Why bother recruiting high school anymore
The simple answer is why not??? One should never ignore talent that may be a good fit regardless of the source. Not to compare footballs to basketballs but Dan did a good job getting Donovan to commit from high school while bringing in several transfers.
The new world order ......... now we have to try to keep up............ ;)

Not a surprise. Not sure he ever got on the field this year. He was listed third on Georgia State's depth chart.

Good point. Spending more time and money evaluating and recruiting college kids and less time and money on high school kids will make more sense for many schools.

This will be another feature or benefit of the B1G and SEC separating themselves from the rest of college football. Not only will TV agreements be aligned between them, and scheduling but you can see how this turns in to a farm system for players and coaches.

Almost like having to start at ECSU for a year or two before matriculating and graduating from UConn. But now it will be between universities where marginal 3-star players spend a year or two at a lesser D1 school to see if they develop more before getting the call up to the Michigans, Georgias, OSU or Bama.

Miami had a safety go into the portal, He had played at 4 different high schools, transferring around until his HS career was over. We're going to see guys playing for 4 different college programs, if we haven't already. Insanity.

Do players get unlimited transfers without sitting? What are the rules now?

I'm confused also. Is it 1 transfer without sitting out and additional transfer with immediate eligibility as a grad transfer? Need a scorecard to keep up. We had Brandon Bouyer-Randle as a 25 year old who went from Michigan State, to Texas Tech to here.

Except, it's not happening that way right now. Alabama, Clemson, Ohio St., Georgia, and Michigan have a grand total of 13 college transfer players on the roster right now and maybe 1 or 2 are from G5s. The top schools will continue to focus on 5* and 4* HS recruits as that is where the most talent and upside is and occasionally grab a P5 transfer from another school to fill a hole. The schools you listed will be contributors of talent to the portal. Heck, UConn has one transfer from Alabama and one from Michigan.
