Still doesn’t seem real. Would’ve never imagined a 5th so soon, but at the same time, some things just look right.

This is ours… forever. Welcome home, 2023!

Looking at those banners, there's only one competitor still ahead of us. We need to beat the UConn women!
It's crazy but doubling the men championships still would not be enough to catch the women titles.

You know what’s crazy ?? If Jerome Dyson wasn’t injured that’s 1 more. And if we don’t lose to George Mason there’s probably another. 5 is amazing and I can’t stop basking in this victory but I am so selfish that I wish it was more!! Lol
I think the same about Ricky Moore and 96. I think the 1996 crew woulda given the fabled 96 Kentucky team a run. I think we would of come out like a bat out of hell and maybe hold on for the win.

I always include 2009. It was a Final 4 team with an injury asterisk that included Jerome, Sticks, Kemba and Thabeet. We got a Final 4 banner with that team. 5 Championships , 6 Final 4’s since 1999. RIP Sticks.

Except for Miami, who we beat by 13, every team UConn beat in the tourney biggest margin of defeat this season was to UConn in the tourney. Miami just had one loss bigger when they lost to Maryland by 18. SDSU did have a 17 point loss to Arizona which matched the margin in the final.

5 is a big number. My 2 buddies are St. John’s fans and Pitt fans and what have they done? I mean Lou Carneseca was a big deal there for all those years and St. John’s had name recognition but …and Pitt was gloating they got to to go to the ACC when were shut out. But 5 is an unbelievable number and we are headed in the right direction with the right coach.

Hey look at the sequence of years 1999 - odd, 2004-even, 2014-even, 2023-odd. So we should win in 2024 an even hear. But that is numerological hocus pocus .
I forgot to list 2011 but being odd it fits the pattern between 2004 and 2014 . Hocus pocus stands LOL

There's been a 5 year gap, then 7, 3, 9, so logically next up is a 1 year gap

Yes for 2024, and then 11 (2035) and -1 (2034). I don't know if I'm willing to wait 10 years between championships though, being arrogant and spoiled and all.

Was thinking about this the other day... My first UConn basketball memory was watching Earl Kelley and Tim Coles against Ewing and GTown. While Coles held his own, we were just pummeled on the regular. I remember asking my dad and he basically said that UConn will never be able to match a team like GTown. Cut to 87 and watching us have to start a walk-on Greg Economou because we didn't have any players. Then thinking we had reached our pinnacle with a NIT championship and a miracle, once-in-a-lifetime elite eight run. Now, we have five championships. That's more than Kansas and equal to Duke and Indiana. It's crazy what JC built and how it has sustained.

We also held both Gonzaga and Miami to their lowest scoring output of the season.

And in terms of that "easy path" nonsense, consider who we beat by NET/KenPom (amazingly consistent between them, actually):
#60/76
#11/13
#20/22
#8/8
#21/24
#15/14

That's 5 top-25 teams in a row, none of them close. St. Mary's, Arkansas, Gonzaga, and SDSU were all underseeded.
