Owusu with 2 early fouls. She might be sitting most of the second.

22-15 MD end of first

Maryland dominating 38-22. Northwestern is probably tired after playing two games already.

49-24 MD at the half

Both offense and defense on display by Maryland.

What a beat down so far. The big run was made with Owusu on the bench too. Reese has been very impactful off the bench and just looks like a joy to play with. Extremely high energy and supportive of her teammates.

I was assured by a few posters here that she was a bed egg in high school. Guess not.

Same here lol. All season she's been super high energy cheering on her teammates. Even on a bad call that went against her in the first half, she didnt throw up her hands and cry to the refs like a lot of players do. Just continued playing and played hard.

Are you talking about this kind of egg?

Wow what an absolute beat down. Hoping for an Iowa win so we get to see offensepalooza with the two highest scoring teams in the nation.

Side note-Maryland could be a serious title contender next year with everyone potentially back and an off season for improvement by Angel Reese.

They will still be behind UConn and South Carolina because of their monster recruiting classes. But if everyone returns and the addition of two solid recruits, a Final 4 could be attainable.

Why wait till next year? There’s not a dominant team this year.

Personally, I think MD is a serious contender this year.

I think they are this year too. I just see many posters stating it'll be UCONN/SC/Stanford far ahead of everyone else, but I see Maryland being right there with them next season.

I dont think they'll necessarily be behind either program. Sure they bring in monster classes, but adding in recruits often works best when they come to fill a specific role or void. Both programs have 7-8 rotation players returning, plus they're added in 4-5 highly touted kids that will affect chemistry and playing time. UCONN has like 6-7 wings next year (Bueckers, Fudd, Makurat, Griffin, Ducharme, Poffenbarger, maybe Westbrook) competing for 2 to potentially 3 spots on the court. Similarly they have Gabriel/Deberry/ONO/Edwards competing for 1-2 spots. Similar scenario in Columbia too at all positions. It'll be a new challenge for Geno/Dawn to navigate since they've never had rosters so deep and talented before.

Maryland likely returns everyone but will likely have a similar depth chart and rotation to this season. I see that as an advantage unless the kids Dawn/Geno landed wind up being major upgrades to their current players, but ill be surprised if that happens.

I agree

Me three.

Just a lot of overall talent there, seemingly all playing well now. Reese is rounding into form and Collins is playing just fine. And they've got a great nuts and bolts player in Faith Masonius, who gives them solid minutes. (FYI, Faith was teammates with Dara Mabrey at Manasquan HS on the Jersey Shore.)

Looking forward to Mayland/Iowa 2 at 2 tomorrow. Give myself a birthday present and watch 'em go up and down the court. 👍 :D
