Click on this LINK to see one columnist’s 5 bold predictions for the 2012 Women’s NCAA Basketball Tournament……………..what do you think?

# 1…..If what I’m hoping for comes true, than this has to happen.
# 2…..Very possible……Marist is well coached and has momentum.
# 3…..Tough to beat Kentucky & Miami in succession, possible……..but not likely.
# 4…..Beat Nebraska, Tennessee and Baylor……..in a row???......quite the feat, but unlikely.
# 5…..Agree with wholeheartedly! If we play with the energy, dogged determination and focus we had in the BE Tournament, we can definitely take the whole enchilada.

We would get Kentucky or Miami (not both). We get Penn State first, if seedings hold and then the winner of Kentucky v. Miami.

My bold prediction (you'll like it): Our first commit for 2013 is Saniya Chong.

I have a feeling you just may be right!

I would love to believe his predictions about UConn winning title #8. Just don't see it this year, but I'm hopeful. IMHO to win a National Championship you have to have a go to player that a team can consistently rely on to score points or make a series of great defensive plays. KML and Bria have the potential to be go to players but they haven't done in every game this year. The question is, will they do it in this years tournament. IF they do, then Geno just might win his 8th.

Now if Baylor does not make the Final Four, I like UConn chances a little more.

MilfordHusky, you have to click on the red word “LINK” in the lead post and go to the columnist’s 5 bold predictions. His third (# 3) prediction is that Green Bay will make the Elite 8. That means they would have to beat Kentucky & Miami in succession to reach the Elite 8. And that doesn’t even take into account their first game against Iowa St.

If Geno offers, I would love to see Saniya choose UConn as her school of choice.

1. I give Baylor a 30% chance to win it all at the tourney's outset. Their odds increase with each round won, especially if tougher potential opponents drop out. As of now, I believe Baylor has a 99% chance of winning Round 1, a 90% chance in Round 2, a 90% chance in Round 3, a 75% chance in Round 4, and a 70% chance in Rounds 5 and 6.

If this seems unflattering to Baylor, no one else is close. I'd put UConn's chances at 10-11%, for instance.

2. Marist beating UGa absolutely could happen. A year ago, I'd be certain it'd happen. This year. it's not as clear cut, but nothing about Georgia excites me.

3. Green Bay is not making the Elite Eight. They have a better chance of losing to ISU in Ames in the first round.

4. Delaware has a better chance of losing to Nebraska in the second round than they do making it through Nebraska, Tenn, and Baylor.

5. Hope so, but they're at 10-11% at this point as I stated above.

6. God bless anyone who writes about WBB, but Bleacher Report is pretty much as worthless as the paper it isn't printed on.

The writer is delusional or simply writing provocative stuff to be provocative. Oh, Baylor could lose, all right, and possibly to UConn. But -- and I am a Green Bay fan who thinks Julie Wojta is all that -- to think the Phoenix is going to win three games in the tournament is, well, beyond my wildest dreams. I'd go with two wins, not three.

I like Delaware, too, but Final Four? Maybe, but not likely. But I agree with the Marist prediction.

2. People are remembering the Marist teams of the last half dozen years, but I
don't think this year's version is as good as those teams. On the other hand
Georgia is probably overseeded at 4, but I think they have too much for this
year's Marist team.

I agree with your "bold prediction".

But, I continue to wonder why Saniya hasn't received an offer yet?

Or is it possible that she already has an offer and the BY doesn't know it?

Peace,

John Fryer

I read them too fast. Thanks for the clarification.

There is usually a lag between an offer being made and us learning about it. (Maybe we need to do something about that. :D ) Often we learn about offers only by accident. My guess is that Saniya has one now. I have no inside knowledge, but in the last 6 weeks or so, Saniya has been to UConn twice and 3 or 4 of our coaches, including the Godfather and his wife, have been to watch her play. I think she is averaging 40 ppg when they are there. Saniya reportedly likes UConn. She lives 20 miles or so from the state line. She plays in a very uptempo offense. It sounds like a match made in heaven.

And she's STILL not even a searchable result on HoopGurlz. I've never seen such a miss. We were late to the party as well, but the girl had offers from other D1 schools. I'm surprised she wasn't on the RADAR at all, even as a three-star or something.

Is it even possible for HoopGurlz to add her, at this point?

Wouldn't that require them to remove a player from the list?

My point is this: IMO they are very much aware of her but they just don't know how to fix the fact that they blew it.

Just my opinion, of course.

It would be one thing to know that the kid scores a lot in an uptempo offense. I'd figure they get tons of steals, and she can make layups. But she shoots threes very well, hits FTs at a nice percentage, and passes the ball. The videos are pretty clear. The kid goes left better than Renee Montgomery. I'm not the best judge of HS players, but she looks like a really good one.

He does seem to be making predictions with the bold plan of looking like a genious if the low probability composite he sets out actually hits. A contrarian for sure - except his #5 which is not much of a stretch although Geno has said it is not our year, but if you give it to us, we'll take it.

P.S. Geno's Pix: Look at all the weight I lost in February! Naw, yours is better and likely accurate.
