I feel like a lot of people said they'd be ecstatic with this record in July and August. Especially if we were competitive in all the games (but one). Where all my ecstatic homies at??

The signs are there. Maybe some of these freshmen currently playing and redshirting will be the playmakers. Currently Newsome looks like the only regular that could break a huge back breaking play. I've come to accept that there will be times when it is evident that Diaco is a first time head coach that is learning. There are times where it looks like he is slowly introducing the team to more complex plays and schemes while other times he is keeping very simple and vanilla. So I'm pleasantly surprised that he has us looking like a football team again.

Is this a fanbase program pulse check thread? If so, let me answer this way - I gave some thought to not renewing my ST and just piecing together a season on game-by-game basis after 2014. I renewed thinking it was my duty/obligation to my school and the program I've supported over the years. Will I renew next year? Abso-friggin-lutely! In fact, I am going to ask if I can add a 3rd seat and use it as a "flex" seat to bring friends/family back to the Rent in 2016. I have definitely seen enough this year to think that next year can be very special. But there is renewed hope that this season can be fairly special too!

We've come a long way in the past year. There's a lot of room for improvement, but we have reason to be optimistic. We're competing. I'm looking forward to getting back to yearly bowl games starting next season.

Shoulda kicked the tying FG at Mizzou. Maybe we win in OT and only need a win in the big Easy for a bowl. But yeah, Boat, we are improving.

Similar to you Dooley, will always support the school. We have 2 ST and we might purchase 2 additional ST's in the cheap seats for biz/promos and friends purposes. Renewed faith. MIGHT BE TIME TO TAKE A VISIT TO STORRS, (buy some hoops and hockey tickets) AND DO A FACE TO FACE WITH THE TICKET OFFICE TO UPGRADE SEATS AT THE RENT FOR NEXT YEAR>

I think it's pretty damn good and a great step in the right direction.
Agree 100%.
1) Recruiting seemingly going in a positive trend.
2) Player performance moving in positive direction (or perhaps the coaching is putting them in a position to see success).
3)Team attitude seems up 2000% (I remember Buffalo) and it is easy to cash it in coming into November but they didn't and haven't so far .
4)Offensive play selection 2000% better (I remember running a 168 lb running back into oblivion as our only play in the ppgdl era). Looks like we can actually play something other than old man football.
5) IMO, dominating ECU was program significant yardstick to measure on field progress as ECU had lost by 7 to Florida in Gaineville, lost by 7 to B YU and had a significant win over Virginia Tech, had played Temple tough the prior week.
6) On field game management looked improved and correct me if I'm wrong, but secondary coverage looked like it was changed up at times resulting in 4 picks.
POSITIVE, absolutely !!!!!!!

I think we're on schedule and Friday was a great night. I'll be ecstatic when we're ripping off 10 win seasons and playing for championships.

I'm going to say it like this: we have had tremendous progress and appear to have a strong foundation to build upon. However, winning is contagious and you want to keep winning. I am really hoping for a bowl game. That will make the season a true success because we have reached a tangible goal of making the "post season".

I can honestly say I'm looking forward to this team climbing out of mediocrity and to a team that can compete with top 25 teams. This year we climbed out from being one of the worst D-1 team to an average team

Yes, it's been a long, hard road to mediocrity.

I'm hoping to start that bowl trend a year early, but the last three games are rough.

The more we win, the more the program will become used to winning again and change the overall attitude about UConn football. It's a big step from the last 2 years - changing the culture of losing from the PP/GDL/JHath years to moving up to being competitive in every game. We've done that this year (with the exception of Cincy). Beating ECU was a big step because it felt like a complete win over a quality FBS team.

The fact that it's early November and we're still taking about bowl-eligibility is more than encouraging. Next year looks encouraging, but we've got unfinished business this year.

Baby steps.

Ecstatic meant 7 wins,
Satisfied meant a bowl bid,
Tolerable means winning Saturday.

It's amazing how many people miss how bad you have to be to not make a bowl game. It's not the difference between finishing and not finishing the marathon, it's the difference between finishing in 8 hours and finishing in 6 hours. Neither is impressive if your existence is based on running marathons. Break four and a half and come back and see me.

You can look it up, my stance hasn't changed.

I was looking for 5-7 or better and competitive. 1/2 way there.

Trending in right direction. Cliche but wait till next year.

Couldn't disagree more, but to each his own. You have to imagine how bad we were and what it takes to get back to what we were to think that this year we were going to be bowl good. We still aren't out of the equation this year. I can only imagine what Nebraska fans think these days.

I think Noel Thomas has shown some of that ability, too. Anyway, not too many teams have a lot of regularly back-breaking players.

I'm a split personality on this one. At the beginning of the season I would have been thrilled to be where we are and overall am still happy with the progress from last season. But, once the season began and I saw the defense and found offensive hope with Shirreffs, I readjusted my sights a little higher.

You see them all over college football every Saturday. Arkeel this year and last is our only guy that has shown he can turn a routine play into a home run play. Foxx showed it for one game last year. When you don't have that ability you have to be almost perfect in your execution on too many drives.

I like Thomas a lot, but he hasn't shown that, he just hasnt. I do think Beals can be that type of player. I expect to see a couple of others develop into that.

I'm pleased with the way that the kids are improving their play, and I'm even more pleased that the kids showed a ton of energy on the sidelines after having had multiple seasons of adversity.

But I'd be lying to you if I told you that I wasn't sick to my stomach about that USF game and the fact that it has the potential to possibly keep us out of a bowl game if we don't knock off Houston or Temple (along with Tulane, of course). Here's hoping that we win the last 3 so that I can forget about that one...

I predicted a 4 or 5 win season. That was showing progress from previous seasons. So right now I see the team as "right on" and that makes me satisfied. However, I would be very happy with a 6 or more win season. Looks less likely that will happen but "hope springs eternal." I am pleased with the progress this year and I sit in the blueback 100's chair section and most likely will buy another seat next year. Go Huskies!!!

I think you've described a lot of the fan base... and explained the over all tone of the board for most of the season. It was like "Holy crap, a QB with a pulse." I'm satisfied with the season, so far. The only thing that eats at me a tiny bit is the Missouri game... but given everything else that's gone on I'm pretty happy.

What makes me more than satisfied is that a majority of the players are coming back. We're poised to get even better... that's very encouraging.

We are fun to watch again, I am not embarrassed to put a UConn game on when friends are over. I watched Temple Saturday and think we can be them in a year or two. All of these things exceeded my expectations for 2015. Good job Diaco.
