Sugar Bowl win, top 10 team, Heisman Candidate, ACC coming up, and a pretty good opponent from upstate(the Ohio MAC schools get pumped to play the other Ohio schools). Compare that with back to back 5-7 seasons, ? at quaterback, AAC, Thursday night, and a pretty nondescript opponent. It isn't even like the opponent is an old Yankee conference opponent.I think this is really good news coming off TWO 5-7 seasons, but compare to Louisville selling out their home opener vs. Ohio and a record number of season tickets sold at 45,000+. Obviously they are coming off the Sugar bowl win. Baby steps...
This is all true, but last year they also sold 44,000 season tickets. My point is we are not even close to where we need to be.Sugar Bowl win, top 10 team, Heisman Candidate, ACC coming up, and a pretty good opponent from upstate(the Ohio MAC schools get pumped to play the other Ohio schools). Aren't tickets $15 for this game -- I got an email recently to that effect? Also, would they count free tickets to the young husky club members as "sales"? (not sure if there there is a membership fee for that club where a portion would be allocated to ticket sales)The question that needs to be asked is how did they get to 31K sold. There is no way anyone included Towson in the 3 game ticket package....so how did they get to 31K?
I bought my ticket today, based on the email I got from UConn about the $15.00 tickets available. I go to a couple games a year, I'm a MBB season ticket holder for a couple decades and that stretches my financial limit.Aren't tickets $15 for this game -- I got an email recently to that effect? My best friend has no clue about collge football. My best drinking buddy is an Oklahoma fan, and when I talk up UConnFB his response is "I don't care". I may kill him someday, now that CT has repealed the death penalty.I bought my ticket today, based on the email I got from UConn about the $15.00 tickets available. That $15 ticket ended costing $26 with fees and add-ons. I'm not complaining, but come on man, truth in advertising.
That being said, I'll be in my seat at kick-off and screaming my vocal chords numb.
31k sold...but have we given any out? I thought in the past the opening game had giveawas for Junior Husky's, other miscellaenous stuff. Attendance may not be bad.
If this was a Saturday afternoon game vs. say Syracuse or Rutgers, I'd be disappointed. It's Thursday night vs. a FCS team (pretty decent FCS team, but still.). I think at least 75% capacity, with a likely potential for more, is pretty good.
I, for one, am taking a half day tomorrow...and cleared my calendar for Friday morning...
I think we'll end up around 35k. Which, is about what one can expect for an opener against Towson after two 5-7s.
