30-0 anniversary

I feel like I could have written 30-0 and gotten my point across. One of my favorite UConn memories ever.

Thanks for this. I still remember before leaving my house to take the 10 minute train ride to TD Banknorth, I told my wife "wait, I need to get something." I had my UConn shirts draped on the sofa and I rubbed the Husky logo for mojo the way Roger Clemens rubbed the face of Babe Ruth's plaque in Monument Park of Yankee Stadium before he ran onto the mound for the start.

You will hear me loud in clear in those highlights.

I rode a huge wave gambling on UConn covers through the BET and the first rounds of the NCAA. Especially the opening round against poor Stetson. I loaded up on that one.

Point being, that allowed me to really overpay for tickets to this game three rows off the court under the hoop they shot at in the 2nd half. Me and my daughter were in the clouds. And then got to high five a bunch of players after the game at the net cutting. Great great day in my sports history.

Watch Karaban running the floor, driving, and cutting in that clip and tell me you think he was even close to healthy this year.
I was thinking the same thing watching that earlier today.

Early in that game I was so frustrated that everyone on the team not named Donovan Clingan seemed to be having an off game. Then THAT happened! Absolutely unreal.

I mentioned this in another post, but I cannot remember the thread: I am not sure Karaban fully recovered from the turned/sprained ankle he had against Creighton in Gampel and that game was January 18th.

His movements were so crisp, fluid and decisive. Felt bad for him, as well as the other walking wounded. We couldn’t afford any of it. Kids were tough though, nearly pulled off the big upset.

The collective bbiq of that starting 5 was insane.

I mean backcourt alone between Castle, Newton and Spencer you’re talking about 3 guys that are probably each in the top 1%
That first long outlet from Newton to Karaban was a thing of beauty. Threw the ball like a QB to the spot Karaban would be. Amazing

My all-time favorite UConn game (aside from championship games, especially 1999). I've watched all or part of that game 74 times . . . so far.

The only thing I can remember that was even remotely close to that by a UConn team was the New Hampshire game where we started with a 32-0 run. It was an NCAA record at the time. At about 30-0, our guards were dribbling the ball well away from their bodies hoping a Wildcat would steal it and score. It took them three tries as I recall.

There was a woman sitting a few seats away from me who knew one of the UNH players. When it got to about 25-0, she felt so badly for the kid that she started crying.
