1) Turkey is awesome. It's the perfect blank canvas for what you're really after anyway - salt, fat, and sugar! And its very blandness is what allows you to mix and match the Holy Trinity to your personal culinary delight.

2) Donovan Clingan covered up a major flaw in Dan Hurley's defensive scheming. If you funnel drives to your shot blocker (yes, we do this, it's partly why our guards look like turnstiles on 'd'), that shot blocker better be physical enough to handle the confrontation. Clingan was that guy. Johnson will never be that guy.

3) We're still going to win the Big East regular season title.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

1. Turkey is my least favorite poultry.
2. The sophomore class is grossly overrated.(I contend Stewart still has highest upside)
3. This team will have an uphill battle to make to make the tournament.

Is Hurley’s seat getting warm?

I’m just kidding. Let’s see what this team can do. Four NBA starters is a lot to replace.

Reed needs to start as the more physical presence just like Adama and Clingan. He doesn’t have Adama’s offensive skill, but he’s bigger and more athletic. I don’t know why Hurley hasn’t tried it. Many of us have been calling for it for a while now. I get that he wants to be loyal to Samson but there’s no way they’re seeing him as the clear starter in practice. I trust that the defense will come together and lineups will be figured out, but it’s not going to be an easy road, and each hard lesson will hurt tournament seeding. We are so much more talented than Colorado and Dayton; there’s no way we should have lost those games.

He’s coached defense before succesfully. My instincts are this team is early in its development defensively and will be decent by February. This feels like a late blooming team overall and that is what I’d expect with this turnover. Good in February and March when we learn to compete defensively. Not going to be a great watch for the next 30-45 days I fear.

Problem seems to be more the perimeter defense. We didn't have these problems when Clingan was out hurt or on the bench with foul trouble.

Psychological losses caused by the loss of composure due to players realizing Donovan Clingan is not there to clean up the defensive lapses.

You forgot the elite (freshman) defender who could shut down their best non-center and two oversized guards who while not elite defenders or even plus defenders could stay in front of their man and rebounded their butts off. No one on the perimeter is stopping their guy and puttng a ton of pressure on two foul prone centers.

1. I love turkey and it is also my least favorite poultry. I only eat chicken and turkey so 2nd place isn't bad.
2. Between work and time zones, I only saw a few highlights from the Maui.
3. Maybe it's like Flight 815 and the dharma initiative never happened.

I trust the coaches and the players and believe the team will improve by leaps and bounds over the next 3 months. It's only November. Lot's of practices, running, lifting coming their way.

This might not be much of a hot take, but after an absolutely putrid game both offensively and defensively, McNeeley will be our best player by the end of the season. It’s hard for these guys to adjust to the size and speed of the college game, but the skills are definitely there. The key is work ethic and attitude. Looking forward to the day when Liam is absolutely crushing it. That day is soon!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Marquette and St. Johns are solid but not elite. There’s 1 game to get the confidence back, then another gauntlet. They will grow leaps and bounds by the Xavier game
Another gauntlet? Dude this wasn’t a gauntlet. We did not play Auburn, NC, Iowa St. or NC. We got beat by mid-majors.

Yea but you're kidding yourself if you don't think Memphis and Dayton will be solid teams in March Madness. They were invited for a reason after all

Not being a negative Nelly but instead a more realistic Ron, 6th place is very realistic possibility. We are not a particularly good team. NIT bound.

Memphis is legit good. Having that game be the first "true" test and getting the OT loss wasn't horrible, especially given DH's T. However, the other two are teams UConn would've handled relatively easily in past couple of years even with significant foul trouble. Dayton is most worrisome as it highlighted not just the physical shortcomings of this year's squad, but the mental fortitude as well (end of Colorado game with AK hoisting 3 long trey misses in a row was an omen).

The mental part is what concerns me most. As long as that's there, I believe DH can work with team on its flaws. But if the idea of a threepeat fades after the next 3-game gauntlet, then I believe so will the motivation, and then all hope for a tourney team are lost.

1. One day the “superfans” that post here will understand the game they claim to watch so much

2. This year’s team will be fine but it won’t be easy since we aren’t built for it to be easy.. (4 nba players and 3 starters aren’t on this team.)

3. Hurley will never have to adjust how he deals with the refs ever.
