OT: 3 Club Golf Tourney--what are you bringing?

This entirely depends on my sobriety. I pretty much always shoot sub-100. Occasionally break 90 if it's a course I know well.

So far in this challenge I've added about 9 strokes to an average game when I avoid sand or some deep rough. I can basically use my 7i as anything from a 5i to a GW passably if I really focus. Just doesn't quite have the pop to get out of trouble.
Based on the clubs you've chosen re: bunkers.. Putters out of bunkers with lower lips and or packed sand can actually be a decent strategy. Have also used a putter from 30-40 yds out when needing to hit under a tree limb to roll up and onto green. I am familiar with scrambling strategies and techniques. LOL

I'd much prefer to get drunk and smash my driver as hard as I can two fairways over, thank you very much

Well, yeah. Of course. I'm talking about the me talking game while you are driving to the course and going up to the bar to get your pre-round swing lube.

So, play to your most negative thoughts? JK, it works better if you're more positive.

Eh, the theory is take an aggressive swing to a safe location. Pros do it all the time, especially on the long par 3's. You see them miss the green but it is to the spot where it's an easy up and down chip and putt.

And that's why they're pros. They can do that. The average guy trying to avoid trouble almost guarantees getting into it. From many years of experience.

I have disparaged golf on here but I actually play all the time.

One of my buddies owns 3 clubs so my whole group (6 of us) have decided to play all the local public courses on Friday over the next couple months. Same 3 clubs at each course.

What are you bringing?

I was thinking 5 wood, 7 iron, putter.
Exactly the 3 I would have said

.-.

Learning where and how to miss makes a huge difference in scoring. Avoids the big numbers.

Played about 6 times in the last 4 weeks. Mainly 18 holes, but a couple 9 hole execs.

Clubs used most often: 5 iron, pitching wedge, putter, driver.

Best shot was 68 yards out, PW to the green, bounce, roll, in... holed out.

FWIW I think we all have a favorite club. For me it's a 5 iron which obfuscates the need for a 4 or 6 iron completely, and I find I prefer it to my 7 which I don't hit much at all. Not sure I need an 8 in my bag when a 9 will do.

I will be paying 9 tomorrow, and will only bring 4-5 clubs with me this time
