Honestly I'd consider them both #1 recruits, although I'd give an edge to Taurasi based on rankings and POY awards. Taurasi was #1 AGSR, #2 Blue Star. Taurasi was Naismith and Parade POY awards. Robinson was #3 AGSR, #1 on Blue Star. Not sure if she won any POY awards. Also a little note, my understanding is that back in the day before there were multiple rankings that were widespread, a lot of times HS POY was synonymous with #1 recruit, or being considered best in the country. I don't know if there were officially published ranking lists that extended back to playing days for players like Shea Ralph, Rebecca Lobo and Nykesha Sales besides maybe Blue Star, but there weren't multiple lists or nearly as much exposure as we saw in later years. Earning one of the main HS POY awards was a metric on its own compared to nowadays. I'm sure this still happens to a degree, but back in the 90s and early 00s, players would often be ranked higher or lower based on region, how much exposure they've had, and what AAU team they played with. For example, I recall reading on here or somewhere that Bird was sorely under ranked by Bluestar due to her decision to not play for Mike Flynn's club, and Flynn owns Bluestar. Similarly, Beard was #30 overall on Bluestar likely because Mike Flynn didn't see much of her, where as she was ranked #5 by AGSR. We still see inconsistencies across rankings today but back then there were fewer evaluators offering input and a lot less visibility for HS players.
