Should Jalen & Terry declare for the draft (which I think is likely), it looks like we will have one open scholarship for 2018/19. There is a very good chance that scholarship gets filled with yet another freshman recruit, however we've had luck with grad transfers over the last few years and it seems wise to keep an eye on any potentials for this year.
Here is our current scholarship grid:
As it stands, we'll have only three true guards next year (Alterique, Vital, Akinjo), so my guess is that we'll be bringing in another back court player. So with that in mind, here's a first look at some guys who could potentially be available for next season:
Ryan Taylor (6-foot-5 SG, Evansville): Pure shooter. Averaged 14/3/1.5 on 44/38/85 splits last year, is at 23/3/1.5 on 40/47/88 shooting splits this year.
Ria'n Holland (6-foot-0 CG, Mercer): Undersized, but he shoots the lights out. Did 17/3/2 on 44/38/84 splits last year, and is at 22/4/3 on 57/56/96 splits this year, including a 31-point performance in a loss at UCF.
Elijah Bryant (6-foot-5 SG/SF, BYU): Has averaged double-digit points all three years (his first was at Elon). Currently 21/5/1 on 51/38/86 shooting splits. He's from Georgia.
I'll add more throughout the year as I come across them.
