Is that for real? ESPN is splashing that across their reader board. I'm sure UConn doesn't really bother counting Sweet 16s, it's all about Championships or at least Final 4's, but that is just a ridiculous number. Amazing.

It is real. We lost our streak of being a number one seed though, and getting to a 12th straight final four is going to be tough I think. Also with tonight's win, I believe KLS and Collier will graduate having never lost a game at home as tonight was win #94 in a row at home.

Not only does UConn not count Sweet 16's, but if they win the Regional Championship, the Huskies never cut down the nets like other teams. The only time UConn ever cut down the nets is for National Championships, 11 times in all.

Tennessee holds the record for consecutive Sweet Sixteens with 27. Next year, that should be another record that UConn will at least share.

Yeah, every time I see other teams cutting down nets for regular season or conference tourney titles I just laugh.

I was wondering about this too. Also, how many other UConn WBB players played for 4 years and never lost a home game?
I am guessing that there are no other schools that have this situation but maybe???[/QUOTE]

I'm guessing it's never happened at UConn. The last home loss I think was the Stanford game in 2014, so that excludes the era of the big three.

The Stanford game was definitely on the road. We haven't lost at home since one of the ND debacles in 2013.

That means anyone who graduated in 2018 (Nurse, Williams) or 2017 (Chong) also never lost at home.

Also from the 2007-2008 season through the 2010-2011 season, no home losses. So add Maya and Lorin Dixon.
I still need to look further back.

Not true. I saw with my own two eyes UConn cutting down the nets here in Greensboro in 2008.

Maya never lost in the State of Connecticut. Her 4 losses were at Rutgers, at Stanford, and in 2 Final Fours. Lou and Phee matched that mark. I believe the same is true for Kia and Gabby.

Diana lost at home, as did Stewie, Mo, and Morgan.

I’ll take your word for it. That would have been the first of the Huskies current 11 in a row. They certainly have not cut down the nets in recent years.

And 11 straight Final Fours and 13 straight Elite Eights or higher. Indeed, as I posted elsewhere, in 26 years, we've missed the Elite Eight or higher just two times.

2004-2005 was a bear! 8 losses!

Tell me about it... I'm still not back to 100%.

There is a glaring difference in men's and women's basketball in this regard. Gonzaga's fans are excited because their men's team has made the Sweet 16 or better 5 years in a row now. That is among the longer streaks in history. While the UConn women's streak seems unreal, I think I heard Stanford is up to 16 in a row now. Both Oregon St. and UCLA are at 4 straight. I think obviously the high turnover rate w/ underclassmen turning pro has a lot to do with why men's teams don't win a pair of games in the Tourney year after year after year the way some women's teams do. I think really big upsets happen more frequently in men's hoops as well.
