23-24 Non-Conference Schedule

Happy to see they have added a third game. It provides an opportunity to watch teams (in person) that are not regular visitors to the state.

This is great, the only downer is that I have to listen to ESPN do play by play for the whole day.

I'll love to play Arizona Jada Williams Breya C and or USC to see JuJu. Duke Kara have that program going in the right direction of course LSU a match everyone wants to see.

Does anyone know if your ticket is good for all three games or if its game by game ticket situation? I would imagine the former rather than the later.

It should be. The 2 games last year and the year before were included

Is there a date for their Italy game this summer? I would like to drive down and see them.

.-.
-LSU. Geno-Mulkey battles of old are fan favorites. Two great coaches preparing their teams, now at her new school. Mulkey needs a boost in her OOC scheduling so I hear.

-I think one west coast trip would be nice for next year, maybe UCLA? Play UCLA in Vegas - neutral court (I am obviously dreaming). Arizona game is for 2024-2025, so not next season is my understanding. They will be a fun add. It was nice to have UConn out west for one weekend in Portland.

-Tara has been ducking UConn since she abruptly discontinued the series. Have you seen Stanfords OOC schedule last couple years? I doubt she will want to take an L by the hand of Geno. It's a shame tho since this rivalry is decades old, would be great for basketball.
In addition to LSU, add Ohio State in Cleveland (preview for FF) in an ESPN special....

Didn't they have a problem with the facilities last year? Court with no bleachers, no medical people on site?

I don't think we want to go there, at least for that get together.
I believe that " to go there" would be to reward the bad preparation of the
promoters last season. I believe it was the INDIANA COACH that was outspoken
in her comments about poor facilities. ( at the Las Vegas venue ). Did the facility also have no medical backup
on site?? What do other Boneyarders recall?

It's always been one ticket for all games in the past; I can't imagine that it would be any different this year, even as a triple header, but would expect a good turn-out

Will try to find an article that talked about the tournament organizer's sketchy history. After reading it, I was shocked that they could host an event.

I don't believe the official dates of the itinirary/games have been officially released as of yet. From the link below. The European tour is from August 15-25.

"The trip begins in Zagreb, Croatia followed by stops in Ljublijana, Slovenia; Bologna, Italy and Venice, Italy. The team will play an exhibition contest in each city. Dates, as well as possible viewing options, were not included in the release."

If I was a betting man, my guess at a possible itinerary for this trip it probably goes something like this below.

August 15 - Travel to
August 16-17 Croatia
August 17-19 Slovenia
August 20-22 Bologna
August 23-24 Venice
August 25 Travel back

...so @ballerfan I would believe their games in Italy would be within this window of days, from August 20-24. I'm sure a final itinerary will be released but if I was you circles the 20-24 days in Italy.

Interesting team goes to Bologna after Slovenia, I can only assume they are flying from Slovenia to Bologna...otherwise if driving they go right by Venice.

On a personal note, I would love if somehow the team live streams these games back to the US.

Thank you. Very helpful.

Last year was in a different country. Obviously different facilities and different medical arrangements.

I had a dream last night the final OOC game was schedule with Ohio State in Canada for Aaliyah’s homecoming game.

OK - So "WHO and WHERE" would the following "Potential" SENIOR GAMES be against and where would they be played?

Aaliyah Edwards? (In Canada? and Against Who?)

Aubrey Griffin? (In Westchester County, New York? and Against Who - Maybe Iona College?)

Nika Muhl? (Against her sister's team Ball State?)

Paige Bueckers (Against the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis/St. Paul?)
Aaliyah's game would have to be some type of special exhibition. Who? Not sure

Aubrey - Iona (2023 MAAC champs), Marist (2022 MAAC champs) a side note Fairfield was 2022 Champs.

Nika -getting the tour this summer and her sisters team is coming so she's good

Paige - Minnesota/University of Minnesota

Here is the attached article on the tournament in Vegas and about the organizer.

They tried to blame it on the hotel, but it was the tournament organizer that was responsible for the medical staff. I believe that the organizer is banned from hosting any tournaments in the State of Nevada for at least 5 years.

Yes and no if Kia's homecoming game is used for reference. It was held in Toronto versus Duqusene and I believe it was considered a non-conference game.

Who? Not sure, but there could be several teams with Canadians from her class that would be interesting. One example, VCU with Sarah Te-Biasu of Quebec. It could be seen as a two-for-one with respect to home games for Canadian players. On a selfish level, I'd love to see Louisville because Merissah Russell would be in the game. Both she and Aaliyah have come up through the ranks together and Russell is from the Ottawa area.

Louisville is already on the schedule as a home game so UConn won't be giving that up to play the game in Canada.

During Aaliyah's recent media interview she hinted that an opponent has been lined up. Hopefully we'll see an announcement soon.

I'm not sure. There have been too many halftimes with neither team scoring 20pts. They are both very good at defending motion offenses because they practice against one. So many of the games were weird. I remember both Dolson and Apel sitting with 2 fouls each after 5 minutes.

Glad to hear it. There are a lot of Canadian fans who would love to see her play live in UConn gear on home soil. Thanks for passing that on.

What a “cluster.” It’s not that hard to organize a BB tournament. There are several boxes that must be checked for the event to be a success. The first one must be to secure an appropriet venue. An arena of which there are several in Las Vegas, not a ballroom.

Somebody had to sign off on that. Both of them should be fired. Common sense dictates you don’t try to pull off putting a square peg in a round hole. That tournament was doomed from the beginning and a total embarrassment to the city, the organizers and the sponsors. What a “clown-fest” that was.

I'm going to dream along with you. UConn could play UCLA and UNLV in a four-team two game showcase at The Thomas & Mack Arena. UNLV is currently 30-2 (18-0) in the Mountain West Conference, and currently participating in its conference tournament. UConn could also participate (if they could get an invitation) in UNLV's thanksgiving holiday tournament thanksgiving weekend which features 8 teams.

It's not a tournament that features a strong field, but it would attract some of the talent on the west coast. It's a tournament that UConn should easily win. There are several west coast schools Geno could schedule for a two or three-game road trip besides UCLA. There's USC, Arizona, Cal, Stanford, the two Washington schools, the two Oregon schools, and last but not least, Gonzaga.

This is the ad for last year's thanksgiving holiday tournament - 11/21/22
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) — Seven of the nation's top mid-major women's basketball teams arrive on campus this weekend for UNLV's Thanksgiving Tournament.

UNLV and UAlbany tip off the winner-take-all tournament Friday at 11 a.m. inside the Thomas & Mack Center.

ETSU faces George Washington at 1:30 p.m., Louisiana Tech and Stetson play at 4 p.m. and UC San Diego versus Illinois State wraps opening-day action at 6:30 p.m.

How many in-season tournaments are you allowed to play in? Is there a limit?

If UConn comes to Tucson you’ll see 10,000+ at McKale! 10,001, I mean!

I’m really excited for this matchup, Texas is gonna be really good this season as well

December 3 is very early in the WCBB season. Fans want to see their teams, as well as a top 5 team like UConn. That game should do well at the box office.

That's a 6-hour drive for me, but one I'd be willing to make if UConn were to come to Tucson. Tucson is a lot closer than Storrs.
