OK, my fellow WNBA poster, everybody who frequents this thread knows of your, ahem, skepticism for the "million dollar coach" and, ostensibly, the administration that hired him. But, at some point, the question must be asked: are you still a fan of the Phoenix Mercury team (as in, the players) or just using them as a springboard to ostensibly "in-house" troll the administration? Why do I ask? For all intensive purposes, the Mercury -- save for one Satou Sabally -- are playing with a roster that might be more "expansionish" than the Golden State Valkyreis. Sami Whitcomb is the best known name of W vets, but the others -- Haley Jones, Kalani Brown -- were hardly in steep demand. And the regular rotation includes new (or just having had a cup of coffee) players such as Kat Westbeld, Lexi Held, Monique Akoa Makani and Katija Laska. They're 6-3. And they're doing this without Alyssa Thomas or Kaleah Copper. Don't really care who they're playing because they're all WNBA teams. A Mercury fan would accept the fact that it wasn't well played, but they woke up to win. And maybe admire how another misfit W'er won the day. BTW, before you diss the opponent, the Valkyries -- after getting shellacked in the first game of an away and away with the Liberty (great scheduling there, home office) -- nearly won the second of the matches with the defending champs. So, that team can play from time to time. Now, I have no vested interest in Phoenix (I live in northern New Jersey), but do enjoy watching Kat Westbeld play...a lot.. in her first year in the W. What I'm interested in is if you'll enjoy the success of -- at least -- the Merc players.
