I do think though, that there are some schools that are just likely to be mired in the mud when it comes to certain sports programs. For example, the teams in the bottom quarter of the Big East don’t seem likely to ever really have successful programs. So the question is “why do coaches take these jobs”? Do they really think that they are going to turn a struggling program around? Or are they just doing a job that they really love and feel that they will get paid well for as long as it lasts? It seems as though you would have to have awfully thick skin, or a blind faith in yourself, to accept some of these positions.
