I admit I'm getting left behind. "High point the football"? Is that like score the basketball? But back to Makih, tall and fast! More, please.

uconn again gets selected over teams in power conferences. great sign.
I agree but perhaps HCJM is offering scholarships vs PWA and/or NIL $ that the power conference teams aren't to some of these players

Kid looks like he has size, speed, athleticism and good hands so I am happy about this pick-up

Last I heard, no incoming freshmen had NIL deals in place and it is more about the fact that we can point to an established fund that can will be when they start seeing the field. i.e. If a true Freshman wins a starting spot, they will obviously have leverage to get some of that money so it is important to be able to say we have a budget 10x bigger than we did a year ago. Come here, prove yourself, and you no longer have to transfer to get that money as a sophomore.

Scholarship vs PWO is a possibility, but that's been a possibility for the last few years and wouldn't really explain a new apparent uptick in quality of recruits.

Guess I don't know relationship of 100 meter time to 40 meter. 4.45 seems fast for a guy who does 100 meters in 11.56. That 40 time would put him around median times for NFL WR combine, that seems very fast, not sure if "not auto time 40" for the kid.
Lot of tackling and "getting open" issues last year seemed to be lack of speed to get in correct play making position, team like UConn needs to allocate "what you look for when can't get 4* guys" to speed.

The 4.45 time is for 40 yards, not 40 meters. 11.56 for 100 meters does seem a bit slow for one running 4.45 for 40 yards.

Maths out to more like 4.82 for 40 meters

His commitment brings us to #83 overall in 247 sports 2025 recruiting rankings, and we are not done yet.

Back in the day I was a sprinter who ran the 100 and 220 ( both in yards ) in HS and college on crushed cinder tracks . I did not have the opportunity to run on a decent track. I can tell you that his 100 meter time would be about a second less for 100 yards. Given that time, he would be about 5- 6 strides behind me for 100 yards. It's difficult to believe that his 100m time was that slow.

He can time the ball and his jump to catch the ball at the high point of his leap.
Thanks! Now do we have a QB that can take advanatge of that skill?

I want to say yes right now. McDonald shows promise, Evers was at wisconsin and was highly recruited out of high school. Welliver was one of the best QB's in texas and Fagnano never really gave us a good sample. We have 4 very good options to choose from (at least for UConn).
