Or, potentially Los Angeles connections: Loyala High School, LA ----- Hilliard, UCLA alum coached by Mora

-> “Coach (Dalton) Hilliard (DB coach) has a great room with good people and I’m excited to get in there and add to the culture they have already built there.”

UConn head coach Jim Mora was coaching at UCLA when Spears played at Loyola.

“We met briefly back in high school but we’ve been in the same circle for a while,” Spears said. “He’s a great person first and foremost, that’s what I was blown away by.

“He’s so genuine and personable and made me feel really comfortable. Having my guy Jaleel (Wadood, Recruiting Assistant) out there was great as well. He played for coach Mora so he was able to share his perspective as a former player and that was huge.” <-

I really like Malcolm Bell… i think he’s going to be a big time player for us… big fast and athletic… and a big time hitter…
He already is. Still has some improvement to make at man coverage, but man, did he hold his side down better than anyone we had seen since the 2015 season.

The train is leaving the station. Better get on board now. Go Huskies.
Coach Mora joins the current BB staff, both men's and women's, hockey and all the sports UConn offers as one of the best staffs in the country.. Nice job by the AD and his staff. Proud to be a Huskie and enjoy all the great posts on the boneyard site.
Thanks from and old man and UConn grad.
Stay safe.

-> Spears spent a lot of time talking and connecting with Jaleel Wadood, a recruiting assistant from Los Angeles who played for Mora at UCLA. Defensive backs coach Dalton Hilliard, who also played for Mora at UCLA, didn’t give Spears the classic recruiting spiel.

“He talked to me as a man and told me the plans he has for the program. And he talked to us about his family and how he sees his coaching path progressing in the future and I was just really happy to see that they were all just genuine, honest people,” Spears said, noting that when he talked with Mora during practice his commitment was never rushed. “The family atmosphere was pure. It wasn’t fake. They have a history with each other and I like how they’re bringing the guys together through that.” <-

-> “When you think of UConn football at first, you don’t really know this little hidden gem they’ve got going on here,” Spears said. “On the visit, I just see the facilities and how the players interact with each other and I was just blown away. I’m excited to join the family and be a part of history.” <-
