Kayode Oladele is a 6-5 250lb DL from Miami, Florida>Memphis (Transfer Portal). Other offer from Georgia Southern. Quite the offer list coming out of high school.

-> Prior to Memphis/Personal:
• Came to the United States (Miami, Fla.) from Nigeria in 2015
• Attended two different high schools in two years in the Miami area (Miami Edison in 2016; Hialeah Champagnat Catholic in 2017)
• Due to visa issues, played only one season of football and did not complete his senior year of high school
• 247Sports.com rated him a 4-star recruit, No. 55 player in the state of Florida and No. 11 DE in the nation
• ESPN.com ranked him the nation’s No. 19 DE <-

I think this (and perhaps other like posts in recent days) were attempts to nudge this announcement along

Signed with Auburn, but never set foot on campus and instead landed at Memphis.

Looks like he has two years of eligibility remaining. 2018 was a redshirt and 2020 was the COVid freebie for all.

So is he a WSDE who can pressure a passer (which God knows is a need) or a SSDE? And did he do anything (beyond good grades) while at Memphis?

To be clear, that's not knocking the kid -- I'm asking. Because given that he had been at Memphis 4 years, I don't care who offered him in high school. He's had more than the chance to show us if he can be good or not.

High School recruiting profile.

Ht 6-4 | Wt 235 | 247 Composite: 3-Star, #382 Overall

Behind The Ranking: Oladele plays hard, he is violent, his hands stay active, and he has speed to the ball. He can improve his pad level, and work leverage more, but you always see his hands flying around, you always see him working to get to the ball, and when he gets that window, he closes in a blur. As a Nigerian native that is new to football, Oladele is the type of raw athlete that Coach Kul has had success with many times in the past.

He's done nothing to speak of at Memphis. We don't know why. This is a bet that a new setting and coaching staff can unlock potential that others could not. It's a virtually no risk scenario because he's got 4 years in college but 2 years of eligibility left. If he emerges then we keep him. If not, he holds an otherwise open scholarship for one year, gets his framed jersey in December and frees up the scholarship for the 2023 class.

My thoughts exactly. The spectrum of success runs from accomplishing little -- to being a highly productive starter.

The key is he is very intelligent, has physical tools, and been around a lot of football. Those are a lot of valuable checks in his favor. If nothing else, he will bring leadership and perhaps some mentoring benefits.

I see no downside and a high ceiling.

I’ll trust the judgment of Mora until proven otherwise. If he has the physicals and onfield violent mindset, he should be able to be made productive.

Found his high school highlights on youtube. He was obviously raw in high school, seems hesitant at the point of contact, but there is physical talent there.

Maybe try him out at TE if it doesn't work out at DE.

The pressure on the QB will come from the two OLBs and somewhere from the secondary in a 3-4. The DEs are usually bigger too but maybe a third down and long rushing specialist as a DE? Similar size to DeVaughn who is now at UNH. Welcome and good luck!
