From the Boston NexGen write-up:

“As impressive at those performances were there were seven athletes that have had their profiles added to the Rivals.com recruiting database. Tyson Thornton and Daron Bryden will be the first 6th grade prospects the website will actively monitor. Thornton is a 5-foot-11, 167-pound running back with great explosiveness and surprisingly good body control for a kid his size and age. Bryden, a small quarterback with a big arm is incredibly composed and very polished — and he can make every throw. And with a father standing nearly 6-foot-7, he may soon have the body to match his arm. Both of these young players were so impressive they were moved up to compete against the eighth grade prospects.”

I hate to drag this crap up, but this is borderline Sandusky stuff. 6th graders? really? And he was so good he moved up to compete vs 8th graders? Who cares?

Well intended, comic relief in a comment following the Alabama news article:
"Any child weighing over 10 pounds at birth should go into the database."

"He can make every throw"

Throws relative to what? Who writes this stuff?

If the kid can throw a 15 yd out without a hump worthy of two camels right now, I'll eat my commemorative hat. Every 12 year old phenom I remember from elementary school ended up exactly nowhere. This just needs to stop.

He is destined for Fordham and will proceed to break all of Nebrichs season records.

I say it every time the kid's father posts on here, give me a call when the kid's balls drop.

We all know what you mean, but is there a better way to make your point?

like "Give me a call when the kid is big enough to reach the gas pedal"

or

"Give me a call when the kid makes the Varsity team"

Different sport but I did play with a 12 year old phenom who won a lot of games in the Major Leagues.

Well, Rivals did this for one primary reason.....they see money in it.

Now the fact that they don't seem to either see or care about the downside of this type of exposure to 12 year old kids speaks volumes about that organization. Of course, these are the folks that gave us Dallas Jackson, so nothing should be all that surprising.

Old man appears to have lost perspective imho.

I feel like a damn fool for defending his dad when he posted here years ago. Thought he was just a proud dad. Clearly he has lost perspective. It's really sad and disgusting.

The bigger point is who to blame for this. The people who follow this crap, who are feigning outrage and disgust are to blame IMO.

I guy I went to high school with hit 980 in little league whe he was 12. That's 980 in a competitive league. Idiot running the league threw him out because he refused to cut his shoulder length hair. He ended up with a full ride at Clemson for football. A punter I believe.
