For those more in the know, what’s the story with outline on Penders’ hat? Dont see them on anyone else. It’s a neat touch. Is it for CT natives?

I've been saying that UConn needed some contributions from pitchers from the pen not named Dandeneau, Wurster, and Wallace. They got it today, excellent pitching from both Simeone and Haus, which enabled UConn not to have to use Wallace today. Because of that, the bullpen is in good shape for the first game tomorrow. Of course, to take the regional and advance they need to win three games in two days now.

I expect Colby Dunlop will start UConn's next game tomorrow. It will probably be the last start in this regional where UConn can expect to get any length from a starter, so to help out the bullpen it would really help if Dunlop can go 5 innings and basically repeat what he did in the AAC tourney. Any games UConn plays after the Dunlop start would surely be staff day affairs, so the bullpen would be seeing a lot of usage. A good outing from Dunlop will help to lessen the load on the UConn relief corps. Of course, the Huskies can still use help from the various inconsistent pitchers to take this thing. Guys like Mayock and Johnson have the talent and the potential to be really good in the future, it would really help if they show that talent in the coming games.

Penders says he went with Thad Phillips today purely on a hunch, that Langer did nothing wrong. It will be interesting to see who gets the start at 3B tomorrow. Also talks about how Kersten never panics, and that he could be available to pitch either tomorrow or Monday if UConn keeps winning.

One other thing to touch on. UConn in recent years has survived and made the NCAA Tournament on the strength of its starting pitching. It has been the biggest strength of the team for a number of seasons. This is not the case this season. Considering that this season UConn has had its weakest starting pitching corps (weekend and midweek starters combined) in a number of years, the Huskies have done well to get as far as it has this season.

Maybe should put it in the other thread, but NU is all over OSU early.

ECU could lose 2 years in a row as a host after winning 40 plus games both years. They flopped in Clearwater too.

I guess it’s easier to beat OK State once rather than twice

Down to their last out, Cowboys hit 3 run HR to take 6-5 lead in T9. These guys hit a lot of HRs.

OK St. wins it 6-5. Down 5-0, they score six unanswered runs. We may be better off playing Nebraska again tomorrow.
